Hey guys,

I have a 09 XB12Scg which I picked up a few weeks ago and I'm getting bored of the quietness of the stock exhaust already. I called up my local Harley Davidson dealership that I picked up my XB from and they said that there's absolutely nothing available yet for the 09 models, and previous year XB exhausts will not fit since 09 parts are apparently not interchangable with older XB parts.

I've also emailed Al from American Sport Bikes and he said that the exhausts from previous year XB's will fit but there is no way of modifying the fueling just yet.

I'm just wondering which one is the case.. is there really nothing available for the 09 Buell XB's? Or can I use a slip-on pipe from an 08 or something and wait for ecu re-maps to be available? Personally I'm not too worried if I don't gain as much power as I'm supposed to if I can run the slip-on without modding the fuel maps and such, as long as it doesn't make the bike run like crap. But if there is no other way then I guess I would just have to be patient and wait. :)

Any inputs guys? BuellPartsGuy? LeFox?

Thanks in advance,
Justin

If it was me, I wouldn't get a exhaust without a race ecm or a remap. Those things dont exsist yet for your bike so you just have to wait.

If you have your heart set on getting exhaust, the Drummer Original is your best bet from what I've read. It was designed by a pretty smart guy, and it's purpose was to be put on the bike with no other mods... So yeah, look into the Drummer

well, there's a difference in euro '08 and further compared to u.s. models...so i'm not 100% sure.

but...
exhausts:
- all complete systems will work on your bike
- for what i know, there's no difference in header fitting for u.s. models, so all slip-ons should work too.

ecm:
- there's no race ecm available for '08 & younger
- remap is possible, but that seems to be a problem finding someone who can do it in the u.s.

so my advise to you would be...
keep airfilter & box stock, stay off the complete exhaust systems (for now).
if you really want the sound, get a altered stock or a slip-on and keep an eye on the market and get that a/f ratio adjusted asap...

after exhaust change & ecm learn-in period, you will/should feel that the bike is running good and has improved throttle response, but do note that it will be running lean which is not a good thing in the long run.

What about q drummer? On their site they have a dyno chart that has stock airbox and airfilter with the a/f listed. I think the a/f stayed at 13.9 with some gains still listed...

q drummer? got a link, cause i can't find those runs you're talking about?

but as i said, keep airfilter & box stock and you will be able to get away with it, but i would recommend getting the ecm mapped at one time or another.

Thanks for the info guys. I will probably wait until there is a way to get my ecm re-mapped. Or if I really can't wait I will go with a D&D slip-on or something (that should be ok, right?), I like the look of the dual canister/tip. I'm hoping just a slip-on won't throw off the a/f ratio too much? (I had a slip on muffler on my gsxr600 and it ran fine without any a/f mods, but obviously this is a whole different bike so I'd like to make sure it's safe to do so before jumping right into it). I will definitely get the a/f ratio fixed as soon as it is availalbe in the market, though.

I put the D&D on my 08 xb12s recently. Have put about 600 miles on it since. This weekend I am thinking to pull the plugs and see if I can get a read on how lean I am running.
Bike runs great with the D&D though, and it sounds wicked, but not obnoxious imo.

Can't wait until I can find a dyno-tuner who is setup to reprogram the ECM properly. At that point I'll open up the airbox and get a hi-flow filter too.
