Had my 98 s1w out to the track for the first time. I ran an 11.97 with a horrible reaction time of over a half second. what kind of times are others getting?

should have ran about 11.6 if i wasn't sleeping on the light. That was no Willie bar or air shifter and my first time ever drag racing.

You done anything to your bike? Seems fast IMO. I could have sworn there were threads on 1/4 mile times for xb's and they were 12's.

me thinks bs on 1st time EVER draging...
a .500 light isn't a 1st timer, thats more like a 1.5 light

^while I'd agree, I can honestly say the first time I ever went down the track(in a car....never have on a bike) my RT was under .5 so it's certainly not that unbelievable.

This was an auto though. I'd imagine with the clutch it'd be a little more difficult to get a good RT.

^that's only on a full tree. I doubt he was racing on a full tree. And it's actually .500 not .400

Perfect reaction time is .000

That means you leave the instant the green light is lit.

Good post and good thread, though.

Yeah, now that they went to the LED signals, they changed it from .4 to .000. That's why the pros are getting around .17 RT

Not on a full tree. Look in the NHRA rules it will say .500 is perfect reaction time on a full tree.

Oh I didn't know that there was a change. If it was changed recently I guess I am wrong....wasn't aware.

However it still says perfect RT on full tree is .500 on the site...
