Well, as I was approaching time for the 1,000 mile service on my XB12Ss this weekend, I took it out for a short ride to get it warmed up and ready to change fluids. I pulled into my dad's (09ulytoy) garage after my ride and we got everything ready. Drained swingarm, drained the primary.... typical oil change nothing special. Well upon inspection of the rear tire I see this.

A roofing nail. AWESOME. So no more riding for the day... all we got to do after finishing the service was remove the rear tire and leave my bike sitting in my dad's shop.

At least we saw it before I was out on a serious ride. Not really looking forward to the $250-300 tire replacement though.

That is repairable. Kevlar plugs and interior patches actually bond very well to tire rubber, have been fixing tires with them for years , mine have never failed.

+1 on the indie patch. I had to put one in my rear tire 250 miles into a brand new Pilot 2. Got about 3000k on it now and never had to add any air. Plugs are more risky, but the patch is pretty much a sure thing. (as long as it is done properly.)

Took it into a shop here in town the other day and once they got the tire off the wheel, they said it couldn't be patched. So, had to order a new one.
