I have a 9sl and I'm looking to pick up a pair of normal length forks. I was curious if anyone could tell me if the 1125 forks are any different than the newer XB forks? Mine is an 03 so I know I would need the newer bottom triple tree regardless, but other than that, are the 1125s using the same forks as the newer XBs? I know the brakes have changed as well but I wasn't sure if that meant the mounting was still the same or not, as well as the fender mount, axle sizes, and overall length.

nope they are a far cry from your SL

your SL has 41mm
after 05 all non low/non uly XB's
had 43mm
the 1125's have 47mm

if you can make them fit (somebody already did with a little percussive encouragement)
the brake mounts fender mounts and axle sizes are the same, length should be VERY close too

Not sure about your 03 xb9s, but I swapped my forks from my 07 xb12ss into my 1125 while I had the 1125's powdercoated. they fit fine. They were exactly the same length, though the xb's forks sat a little lower. so it was a little shorter installed. But I rode 500 or so miles with no problems.

While the inside tube is thicker, actual fork tube that fits into the trees was the same. I used to have a side by side pic, but I cant seem to find it now.

Yeah I knew about the 41 and 43mm difference, I just wasn't sure about the length and the clamp diameter. I found a pair of 1125 forks pretty cheap, but I'm not sure if I should just wait until I find some normal length xb forks.

Jornum, What do you mean when you say the xb forks sat lower? Does that mean if I put the 1125 forks on my xb that they would stick up past the top triple farther? The top of the forks are already right at my handlebars as it is, I don't think I'd have any room to spare that way.

Other than that, the axle and brake mount was all the same?

according to a recent post on another board the length is the same

the lower triple mount is 1mm larger

axle and brake are the same

hope its not to late to help

I think the forks are still on ebay, so I definitely appreciate the update. I still feel like I should just hold off until I find the normal XB forks, especially if I happen to come across some 03-04 forks so I can keep my bottom triple and switch out whenever with ease.

I was asking the same questions and found the same answers and apparently are in the same boat except I have a 2006. I held off of purchasing a set of 1125 forks because I wanted to be sure they'd work, and even if they fit, their spring rates would be different so I just elected to find the proper forks to begin with.

If you want fork legs, go to buellsterparts.com. They have a few sets right now, and they are great on the phone and the prices are CHEAP.

Their prices aren't awful, but a set just ended on ebay a few weeks ago that was both fork legs, the bottom and top xbr triple clamp and it all sold for $182. After seeing that I'd never be able to bring myself to pay $150 per fork leg, I'm sure another pair will sell for a good price eventually.

WOW, I must have missed that auction, and I've been looking! Did it have a miss spelled title or was it bent up?

nope, nothing wrong with them. It's item # 220659901627 if you want to check it out.

I had been watching and hoping all week long, but the night that they ended we had a mini crisis at home, and by the time I remembered I ran up the steps, pulled up ebay, and the auction had ended 15 minutes earlier. I was soooo bummed. I would've been more than happy to pay that price for just the forks and bottom triple. The firebolt top triple would've just been the icing on the cake. I'll keep an eye out all winter, I'm sure I'll find something eventually.
