Hey guys,

So I know there are a bunch of mods that can be done to the XB's. I've done some forum searching, but I can't seem to find too many things that can be done to the 1125 Cr's. Is this true? Looks like it's basically after market mirrors, LED signals, HID headlamp, pegs, and seats. Is that pretty much it? I'm about to get one and I'd just like to know some things I can do to make the motor last longer and run better. It has 2200 miles on it, FMF Apex pipe, Jardine tail, and that's it. First thing I'm doing is installing the EBR ECM preprogrammed for the Apex pipe. Is there much else like a breather reroute for the XB's and whatnot?

Thanks!

The only thing that can't be done is the thing you can't think of...! Use your imagination...!

Oh great...the breather reroute again. Save your money and time. It isn't needed on either the XB OR the 1125!
I have two XB's (and my 1125CR), one with and one without the reroute.
Quess what, the non-rerouted breather....makes a big zero in difference..!

The change list - paint, powder coating, different body work, modified stock bodywork, different mirrors, chain drive, different handlebars, different controls (radial master cylinder), cylinder head work, not including a proper ECM tuneup or the coupla things you mentioned.

Well, there's a coupla things to think about.

Oh yea...the K&N filter...goes with the breather reroute..not required or wanted (on my bike).

Have fun with your new bike.

Mike

No really tweaking need pipe ECM kn and hold the f on.
Later side panels if u want gpr damper lots of tires and gas

Don't forget axle sliders! I know where you can get a nice set of them! wink wink!:D

Mike: I've heard the same thing about the breather as well. I did it to my XB and couldn't tell a diff, but there would be some crap come out of my drain after every 100 miles or so. I may go ahead and do it to the CR. If it keeps everything a little cleaner on the inside, it might be worth it. If anything, it gives it a custom look.

RT: Going to put an EBR ecm on it preprogrammed for the Apex pipe and will probably open up the air box. I probably won't do the K&N because it's a daily dust storm here in Tx and I'd rather not take a risk. I'll def hold on!

nilla: I looked into the tail swap earlier and I may do them later this winter, but I just want to ride and enjoy the bike for now :)

50dro: I may need ya to hook me up with those here after while!

Bossanova: I've read about the "de-noid," but it was all vague. Isn't this where people experience a "bog" under 4-5k RPM? I heard it's a cheap fix, but couldn't find much about it. Please, enlighten me :D

With the CR, get a good tune it it to start. Start reading the stator/charging threads and possibly change the charging system or at least have the parts on hand for when it goes. Look into the clutch weep threads and possibly pick those parts up to have on hand also. From there the mechanical short falls of the bike will be addressed. Everything else is going to be personal preference ie, levers, pegs, sliders etc.

Puzz and Boss: These bikes are new to me, especially the Cr's. I've been reading as much as I can about them, but there's so much; I'm still working on it. I'm not sure exactly what a GPR stabilizer is. From what I read, it sounds like it smooths out high speed turns? I don't plan on doing many of those, especially at the start. That's $400 I can use toward my EBR ecm and stuff for the stator and clutch weeping, which I haven't had time to read up on yet. I want to make sure my bike is running clean and smooth before I get into anything high speed. I'm not really a high speed kind of guy. I just want that option whenever I get the itch.

Do these bikes require a lot of maintenance and work? I've read mixed threads and reviews on them. I'm a basic average Joe tinker'r, not a mechanic, and I don't want to get something that's going to require maintenance all the time like a helicopter. lol

Ah, I knew that they are ram air, but I didn't know that an open air box on them would hurt performance. Noted! +[up] for that helpful tip. Guess I may go ahead and do a K&N then since it'll be plenty protected.

On the denoid, are ya'll using the $90 Markel plug or the $10 Buell plug? Seems to be no difference except for price. Is it a fairly simple job?

yes it is simple.
if you have any questions pm me i will give you my phone number.
I used the buell 10 plug.
But if you do the EBR ecm you don't need it since it disables the noid.
It is abot 5 pounds so i would still take it off

the re-route isn't a performance mod. It's to keep that gunk from flowing right back into your airbox and quickening the pace on your filter getting dirty. after mine exploded on me (see pics below) I'm damn glad i re-routed.

RT: I didn't know that the EBR ECM disables the noid? That's good because that's the 1st thing that's going on the bike when I get it. I guess I'll still go ahead and yank the noid off to help lighten the load. Thanks a lot RT! When you mention a regulator upgrade, what exactly do you mean? The bike I'm getting has almost 3k on it with the original stator and regulator. I've read some threads posted from you and Puzzled about sending the stator off to get rewound and screw the dealer replacement with the same exact piece.

Nuage: Dang man, good thing you re-routed! I fully believe in the re-route on the XB's. My Lightning will spill out some gunk after about 80 miles or so, so I know it's doing some good. I haven't heard much about people doing it on the Crs though. If it does the same, that'll definitely be on the to-do-list!
