Hey all you've probably (maybe) started to see me posting here as I'm confident in buying a 1125CR or 1125R. I've found a Red 1125CR at Road and Track. They are selling it for $5,999 and it has a new spedo but they do not know the current mileage or the history behind the bike. I emailed them asking for more info specifically the mileage and hes said that there is no way of finding out how many miles it has. Also he said they do not know if any work or recall info have been done to it. First he said that they gauges didn't work then he said they do but the mileage isn't visible at all because of the gauge replacement. But still he doesn't know the mileage. I am trying to talk him down saying that if the stator isn't fix or the clutch weep or the recall harness that thats all stuff that in the future will have to come out of my pocket (to try and talk the price down). Should I stay away because it could have either 200 miles or 20,000 miles?

My opinion I would be wary because there is no history on the bike. But I'm weird when I buy vehicles. I have learned from my mistakes in the past. Your call. If it was me I would pass.

Same here, I asked if they bought it from an auction and he didn't answer that question of them all I asked, so I'm guessing yes. I like to be able to see the history also and with not knowing the miles I wouldn't know when to do services except to do just about everything when I buy it then keep track from there forth. Looks nice and all but I want to know what I'm buying to the teeth.

If it runs....odds are that it hasn't had stator problems yet or just had it fixed. I'd loom at it closer and ask for the carfax.

Yeah I asked for the VIN and did the free VIN checks on the internet and came up with "Never been totaled" and "Never been stolen" but I never knew carfax did motorcycle checks also

No mileage records unless you can find it on a internet history report. No service history either. In my opinion 6k is a bit much for a gamble. The new speedo is a direct indicator that it may have been wrecked before and they have just fixed everything and put a different speedo on it. This is just my gut talking, but I would still be cautious with your hard earned money. By a good bike not a problem bike[up]

DONT BUY IT!
Never ever ever buy anything from road track and trail, ever.

They screwed me on my R.
Go across the street to Jamie's Customs or hit up Craigslist.

If you have the vin# call up Hal's or Suburban and they'll run the vin for you and tell you if there is a warranty and if there are any outstanding recalls to be done on it. Also ask if there is a service history report on it, might give you a good idea of how many miles are on the bike.

Thanks man they guy I was talking to from their said they don't get much info on most of the bikes they take in, which I don't understand why they would sell their bikes for so high, they have a 1125r on there with over 12k i believe and its for sale for 6k.

^^^ name of the game, but just be careful. They will tell you anything to move merchandise. It's just money and business whether it's good or bad business.[cool]

You can call any Buell dealer with the vin # and they can give you the mechanical history if it had work done at the dealer. I did this a few months back on an 09 CR that the used bike dealer was saying it had the stator replaced but the HD/Buell dealer said it had no record of the recall being done on that one so I backed away from it.
