I actually really like the stock mirrors ... except their lack of adjustment. BUT I did some fiddling tonight and loosened the two allen head fasteners and rotated the whole master/slave cylinder and mirror assembly forward which brought the mirrors up a bit. I also loosened the Torx 45 fastener holding the mirror stalk and rotated it in which aims the mirror way out. I'm 6'3" and 260 lbs ... I no longer stare at my elbows when I ride! So before you pass judgment on the stockers (if you're like me and like the way they look but don't like their lack of adjustment), try it out.
On a similar note, everyone check the two allen fasteners that hold the fluid cylinders and mirrors etc. b/c all 4 of mine were only finger tight with only 300 miles on it!!
I just found them on e-bay. I think I searched "streetfighter mirror" and came across them. They were like 40 bucks for the set. I was running no mirrors for a while but it makes me paranoid that the popo could sneak up on me.
YEA SUPER EASY TO INSTALL AND WIRE UP. THERE OBVIOUSLY NOT SUPER HIGH QUALITY BUT THERE HOLDING UP GREAT SO FAR. THE MIRROR COMES KINDA LOOSE ON THE PIVOT SO AT +100 MPH SPEEDS THEY MOVE BUT THEY COME WITH A TOOL TO TIGHTEN THEM UP AND THAT FIXED THAT ISSUE. THE ONLY TIME THEY GET OUT OF ADJUSTMENT NOW IS IF I'M DICKING AROUND AND DROP A WHEELIE TOO HARD OR BUMP EM IN THE GARAGE. THE VIBRATION IS MUCH MUCH LESS THAN STOCK BUT THERE IS STILL SOME.
I went with the CRG 4" mirrors. They are great compared to the heavyweight stock mirrors, which I could never adjust correctly anyway. The bike looks more like a Streetfighter now. For the turn signals I installed a pair of Rizoma "zeros" on either side of the headlight cowling. Piece of cake install since all the connectors are underneath the flyscreen.
I just bought some bar end mirrors of ebay, and some new LED indicators for front and rear. But I cant get the bloody bar end caps out. I dont like the original mirrors, hard to see behind and also takes the toughness away I think.Any suggestions how to get the caps out..????
just grap the caps with plyers and pull, they are pressure fitted but not worth trying to do neat and nice (they cost about a dollar to replace). Extreme I got those mirrors, not bad for $33, they are deff a step up from stock. Thanks for the suggestion.
Sweet, Thanks xtreme6669... i tried with a rag n piers but it was damaging the ends, and i just stopped and panicked..lol. But i guess they r not needed with new bar ends hey. Also im chasin a new carbon fiber rear hugger and front mud guard, does anyone know where they are available. We dont have any availabe in Australia and is really hard to find new parts. Would love to visit the States and see what I could pick up.
The CR stock mirrors are ****...look & function [down] ...I put on CRG lane split mirrors and mounted stick on LED indicator strips on the pods (cheap) [up] looking for something more permanent but haven't found anything quite right.
I am waiting for the tall bars. When I get them I think I will go with some bar end mirrors and acerbis handguards with turn signals in them. they make some with open ends for 45.00
I put bar end mirrors on mine, but like yourself, didnt like the width. So i bought a set that fold up and down , so they can be adjusted to any position. Look sooo much better, and a much more practical. Can actually see the rear of my bike, plus whats behind me, instead of lookin at the insides of my elbows.
