Hello,

I was driving my 09 1125r around for quite some time today. anyways I was about 20 miles from home and realized my Fuel light just came on so I figured I might as well make it to my town to get gas. I only went about another 5.6 miles on my fuel ODO and all of a sudden the bike said a few error messages something about system and fuel failure the whole bike turned off besides the power. so i pulled the clutch and went to the side of the road and turned the bike off. waited for about 20 minutes and had a friend bring me some gas. the bike started right up and rode home no problem. Is that normal? I feel like I should be able to get further then 6 miles once that light comes on....

I usually get around 20 miles once the low fuel comes on. Not sure what happened in your case. Maybe you were just riding really hard.

Was your bike running hot? I know our bikes have a habit of boiling fuel. Running on E theres not a lot of fuel to heat up so it could have turned your reserve to fumes.

I ran mine out on a road trip when i had my wife behind me just so i would know the reserve capability made it 18.4 miles.

I normally made it about 20-30 miles but as hot is it is here in the lower it may have boiled and or over heated the pump.

I never did run mine out:)

You still had fuell but because you were leaning/breakin/accelerating fuel got moved in the tank and stoped the continuous flow (bike shuts-off). I bet you if you would have tried to restart it once you were stoped you would have gotten some more run time. Now, how much more I dont know but conservatively at least 10 miles.
I went 25 miles of highway riding with fuel light on and than gas ran out and bike shut-off just as I was entering gas pump - didn't even have to push it for a foot :D

At least your fuel light comes on at a somewhat regular time... I have an '08 and my fuel light has been on constantly for the last 8 or 9 months... I am finally taking it in to get fixed under warranty in a few weeks, but it is kind of a pain in the ass. I have just learned to look at the odometer and get gas around 120 miles.
