Can anyone share their experiences on SCG's compared to the rest of the XB lineup? I'm mostly interested with handling characteristics and comfort. Harsh, no difference, quicker cornering? Any info will help. I'm on an XB9SX and am considering adding an SCG or 12S to my stable. Thanks guys and gals!

I have an XB9SL same thing as a Cg but older. in my experience it turns in about the same maybe a little quicker but is better at changing directions. getting it set up for rough Michigan roads is a pain in the butt (Pun intended) I find that I have two or three setups for it Commute Tour and Spirited if set too comfy it will bottom out too easy and getting it tight enough to eliminate bottoming is a delicate balance because the back tire will want to dance a bit and even drift out when exiting aggressively from corners.

I decided that I ride too hard for the low setup and am looking to trade. If I were in the south I would probably keep it because the roads are nice enough that I wouldn't worry about bottoming.

hope it helps

Yeah I hear ya bout the roads. WI has some of the worst I've seen. The concrete roads are great, but blacktop really sucks, greasy when new and lasts maybe 2yrs till it starts breaking up from the salt and frost heaves.[mad][mad]

Is the difference with the SCGs solely based on the parts of the suspension itself? If you have an SCG and you just replace a couple parts with normal xbs parts to get back to normal, or are some of the differences built into the frame/swingarm? I assume you'd need all new forks too?

yea I bet your roads are a lot like ours here. only we make ours worse by fixing what isn't broken and leaving the rest out because Michigan is out of money.

if you plan on only using it for track days and spirited jaunts on nice roads I think you would be fine. for me its my only bike and I don't need the extra reach or flick ability that much.

Thanks Delta One, but I do like low stance of the scg. Too bad it doesn't serve a more road worthy purpose.

don't get me wrong its very road worthy for the average rider. I am not him tho, I ride hard nearly every day I am on the bike and I push the suspension to its limits. for most guys it probably wont be much of an issue.

ive got an scg and an 1125cr. i bought the scg as my first buell and thought they were all the same. it handles just as awesome as the 1125cr. i only bottom out the suspension when i wheelie on accident and go offroading.

Probably the best thing for me to do is try to find one and sling it around for awhile. There aren't too many new ones, so might have to settle for used.[confused]
