Hello everyone,

So I was tossing an idea around in my head and wanted to know if anyone else has had this problem and/or a solution.

I just bought a new helmet and I want to make sure it stays in excellent condition.

From time to time when riding with my g/f, mostly in city driving, she accidently 'taps' the back of my helmet with hers.

On my old helmet this didn't bother me too much but now I want to be prepared for next summer.

I was thinking about epoxying a piece of rubber on the front of her helmet to avoid any damage to my new one...what do you think?

What about buying a Ipad screen cover and applying that to where your helmet gets bumped to prevent scratches? Little less noticeable than rubber but then you might not want to mess with a new helmet... Just giving ya an idea

Even a piece of a cheap tank protector would work...Or maybe a small piece of clear grip pad. Like stomp grip or something. Just a small clear piece to prevent scratching and rub marks.

Longer braking distance?
Smoother clutch action?

Remember she doesn't have any grips to hold on to, to steady her upper body.

My g/f did that we she first started riding on the back. She doesn't anymore. But when it was happening, I was thinking the same thing.

Yeah it's less often now that she's had more seat time, but you know how it goes, some ****** pulls out in front of you and bam you gotta hit the brakes hard [down]

I like the clear protector idea though, I think I'll give that a try [up] In fact maybe even a piece of automotive clearbra cause it's pretty thick!

Or quit worrying about the helmets and trade her for a more experienced tank skank!

Have her put a hand on the airbox to steady herself under braking but that requires her to pay some attention which she should be doing anyway.

What if she's hitting your helmet with her face shield and not the top of her helmet? Would you stick a rubber pad on her face shield?

I think he was saying to put some clear protector to the back of "his" helmet, not the front of the GF's

This is what I read.

I know it's kind of an expensive option but how about her getting her own bike? It solved the same issue and my wife and i had. It worked so well that we rode more often because she really liked to ride. it would make me laugh though when after a while being off the back the first time i go from 1st to 2nd "thunk" and we both laugh. I like the screen protector idea but get the iphone protector smaller cheaper and really how big are the areas that are making contact.

I have my girl brace herself on the airbox. She hit the back of mine once. She learned not to let it happen twice.

You guys are crackin me up!

Yes, I was originally just thinking about the very front of her helmet like just below the chin vent. You guys know how little space there is on the back of a Lightning. Something on the back of mine will work too!

That way the occasional smack on the back of the helmet won't scratch my new lid.

Get married then you will eventually end up taking off the rear pegs ( for looks of course ) and you will get your free time to your self to ride [up] . At least that was my theory :)

These wern't bad idea's either
get her neck muscles stronger... only one was she can do that hahahah sorry had too
there are exercises your g/f can do to strengthen her neck and they are fun for you too
