2002 Blast won't start

I changed the clutch cable on my 02 blast and now it won't start. It clicks and starts to turn over. I took the battery to be tested, NTB said it was good and charged it for me. Still wouldn't start. The more worrisome problem though is that after trying to turn it over a couple times, I see smoke coming from where the clutch cable meets the handle. Any ideas?

Sounds like an electrical issue.

Flip the center diode in the fuse box and see if it isn't the clutch lever safety.

By the way, the clutch cable can't smoke, its not electrical, but rather mechanical. It is just a cable running into the tranny which engages and disengages the clutch pack.
