I recently purchased a 2003 Buell XB9R, and I think I got a pretty sweet deal. Paid $3000 for it and it doesn't even have 3000 miles on it. Anyhow I am looking to do some aftermarket mods and I was wondering what's out there. I know integrated tail lights are happening, currently trying to work with xblights.com, also interested in exhaust, windscreen, and etc. Post some picks gimme some advice and help me out I look forward to many years of fun and making new friends.

pics or it didn't happen:D welcome to the forum...guess you have stock exhaust, single port? clear windscreen? belt guards still installed? pretty much stock everything? what other things are you looking to do...change plastics, powder coat wheels, etc...

just a suggestion...go over the bike and fix any issues first. cosmetic and performance changes second. clutch cable, belt, brake pads, fork seals, battery, do oil/primary change, oil filter, air filter, tires, idler pulley, all bearings (wheel, idler pulley, steering head, swing arm). rear cylinder base gasket for leaks, rocker cover leaks, isolator mounts, check hardware for security...

I will post some pictures as soon as I get back to my laptop. I know for sure I am going to powder coat the rims red and I would love to swap the exhaust system, but with the problems people have been having it isn't on the top of my to do list. I know I want a red windscreen as well, some graphics to give it some pop, and I have heard rumors of turbo kits. As for mechanically it runs like a top no issues yet had the oil changed just to be safe, which by the way is way more interesting on a Buell hahaha. I just want some ideas on what people have been doing with theirs so maybe I will get inspired. It's a short list at the moment but I am sure it'll grow.

I would love to swap the exhaust system

get in touch with dean adams for that

I know I want a red windscreen

beware of your local / state laws about windscreen colors, yes they are stock but the law doesn't give a s$#!

check this out for some inspiration on either graphics or paint here

mirrors, levers, shifter and brake pedal, pulley cover, handle bars, right side scoop, rear hidden brake mod, seats, axle sliders, brake fluid reservoirs, dash board replacement, put a Lightning tail on your ride...to name a few things available out there to "mod" your ride

If it were me, I'd flush/change all the fluids (oil, primary, brakes) and spoon a new set of tires on it. Add a set of sliders from 5-0dro and call it a day. Well, maybe some frame pucks if you can find them as well. Otherwise, I'd ride the heck out of it as it sits.

wow, she's freaking clean and all stock, nice[up] stickers, reflectors, missing handle bar cap, short stock mirrors? hard to tell from the angle of the pic.

Yea it is missing an end cap on the grip but I am fixing to order my first round of extras and that's on there. I have pretty much completed the list and this is how it sits;
Red windscreen (legally good to go)
New grips and end caps
Mirrors with integrated turn signals
New dash background
Integrated tail light and blinkers
As for flushing everything when I changed the oil all fluids went with it. The tires were changed right before I got it because they had dry rot. I did take and have them inspected to make sure there no issues, can't be too safe.

I'd suggest to hold onto the stock stuff you remove, bubble wrap and box it up.

where did you order parts from?

A little bit of everywhere lol.
Motorcyclesuperstore.com
xbdasboards.com
eBay

I'll post my changes when I finish and absolutely these things are just going to get rarer. I would love to meet Erik Buell and get him to sign the faux tank.

nice, the graphics kit is a rare find, have seen a couple over the past 5-6 yrs. you need frame pucks, axle sliders, case sliders...take a look at T-rex Racing for the protection stuff.

frame pucks @ newcastlehd.com $51.14, but call them and see if that's for a pair. HD is selling almost everything as single items even when the packaging states pair/two. Buellparts.net item description states "sold in pairs" for $63.92. the P/N: 93001-03YA

sorry, dro...that's just a suggestion to him if working on a budget, we all take baby steps, then jump in head first;)

I'm a bit biased on tail lights, but I can can say don't go with Clear Alternatives junk (eBay special).

Crappy stuff.

And +1 on XB Lights :)

Get some frame pucks. Then set your suspension to your weight and riding style. Ride the hell out of it! After your first off, start the customization process.
That's the way I look at customizing. What's the point when everything already looks so good!
It's a whole other story when you have to figure out what to do with battle scars.

I found an aftermarket set on eBay CM but I will post pictures once they are installed. I made my first order of new grips, the graphics, mirrors, and tail lights. If the mirrors turn out to be junk they will be going back. I think I am the most stoked about finding a complete unopened set of graphics.
