Looking to trade for a Lightning (XB9S, XB9SX, XB12S, XB12STT, or XB12SS). There is nothing wrong with the bike, it just doesn't fit me for commuting. This past winter I replaced the shift shaft, put in a new Pro-series air filter, re-zeroed the static timing, re-routed the crankcase breathers, and reset the TPS. The front brake pads are only a year old, the spark plugs are only a year old, the rear tire is 6 months old, the air filter has about 45 miles on it, and the belt has about the same.

I purchased the bike in summer 2007 from another forum member. In full disclosure, I did lay it down that summer in a slow corner, but have ridden 12K miles with no issues. It does have a few "minor" cosmetic blemishes, like a small dent in the header elbow (from the previous owner), and one of the headlight bezels is broken (my stupidity). I clean it about once a year, so it isn't perfect, but it runs great. The front tire probably only has on season left on it. It could probably use a fork service, but I don't ride it hard enough to know.

I am looking for a lightning in the "same" condition or better. I ride my bike way more than I look at it, and make darn sure it runs as good or better than it looks. I'll get some pics up sometime soon-ish.

Keep it. Cause youre asking way to much for it. I got my 08 xb12r with 10k for 4100. Granted mine was a deal but i can get all kinds of buells for 4k with alot less miles.

Here's some pics:

Got my 07 12R with 1900 miles for $3500

Congrats! Again, I am 99% interested in a trade for a lightning, 1% interested in a straight sale. Thanks for the input guys, but if you're not interested in the ad, please avoid crapping on it.

We arent crapping on it. Just saying that people look at price first 98% of the time. Honestly it will be hard to find someone who wants to trade and if you want a lighting, youll probably be better off just converting it. The bike looks great. Just change the bars and get a lighting front. And dont get so butt hurt.

I am not a buyer (UNFORTUNATELY - not enough money and live too far) but must admit that the bike looks great!
jandj_davis, perhaps you'd better listen to Loki's advice

At least you know your bike better than somebody's other bike. I would do so if I had the Firebolt.
Very not bad idea, Loki[up]
I think there would be more peaple willing to swap Lightning/Firebolt front fairing.

Good luck!

I considered swapping to a lightning front end. Personally, I think the S front and R tail is a dead sexy combo, I just don't know if I am ready to put that much work into it. Mechanically it shouldn't be that big a deal, but re-locating all of the electronics from the front to elsewhere is what has me a little leery.

If I don't get any bites, this winter I'll try putting on the AmericanSportbike.com riser bars. That may add enough comfort that I can live with the bike as a commuter. If that doesn't fix it, I'll have to lower my asking price. I can't stand the look of the R fairing combined with the S triple and bars, so I probably won't try that route.

I have an 03 Lightning that I'm looking to trade for a Firebolt. It has 7000 and its completely stock. The only problem is that I am located in Miami, FL. Any ideas?

Unless you are ready to take a road trip, I don't see an easy solution. I can maybe meet you in KY, but that's probably the best I can do.

No longer for sale. I found some HeliBars!

Nice find, and I'm glad they work for you. I can say if I hadn't found some, my Firebolt would most likely no longer reside in my garage.
