So my lady has a 2003 Xb9r and she's is a little short for it.
we tried adjusting the shock and what not didn't help enough.
I recently purchased an Scg (yellow) rear shock from a seller in Canada. Should be here soon
is it easy to swap them out? and will this lower the bike about 1-2 inches?

I'm not 100% sure, but when I found a buell that I liked it was an SS, and it was to big for me. I asked about converting it to a Scg and the guy said it could be done. But it would take more than just changing out the rear shock and it would be a costly venture, unless you did it yourself. I think you have to get an Scg setup to drop it that much. So I'm not sure if its the same deal with the X9.

Sure someone with more knowledge will chime in. Good luck.

It'll work and an easy swap. but you should do the forks too. Just lowering the rear could mess up you geometry.

Installing the SCG shock doesn't take long. You literally jack up the rear of the bike. Remove 2 shock bolts and a screw holding the reservoir. Reverse the procedure for installation for the SCG spring.

During my conversions, I installed the rear shocks first. While the bikes where sitting with no rider weight I didn't notice any seat height drop with just the rear shock. Maybe the rear needed to settle too. But, once the SCG front forks where installed. The difference was very visible, like night and day. It's the rear with the front that makes the difference.

As everyone else has said changing the front without the back will change your riding and handling characteristics.
