Sigh.

Talked to my doctor today (the one who put the metal rod in my leg) and he basically said if I re-break the leg badly, there would be a good possibility of amputation. If the titanium rod in the leg bends...I'm ******. He advised me, fairly strongly, to not ride until the rod is out (2 years).

So...

selling my baby. 2003 xb9s, 12,800 mi., race ecm, race exhaust, k&n, breather re-route, chopped tail, upgraded signals, brand new Michelin Pilot Power 2ct. The only scratch, ding, sent is on the header. Super clean, runs amazing.

I'll also toss in brand new Vega Boots, Scorpion Overpants, and HJC carbon Fiber Helmet in the price.

Bike is in Denver. $3900

[confused]

that sucks man! sorry to hear about this. i'm up in wyoming so if i hear of anyone looking i'll send em your way.

Is it paid for?

If it is why would you sell it? I van understand if maybe the temptation is too strong and you will ride it (I know I probably would) but maybe you could get a storage unit in another town. Maybe by parents grand parents or somebody and just keep it in there under a cover. Unit rental should be about the same cost or less than insurance on the bike so it won't even hurt your pocket any more than riding it would.

I hate to see guys get rid of bikes they love.

Just my .02

delta. i have a garage, and yeah the temptation to ride it would def be there. but 2 years...just sitting there..wouldn't that mess the bike up??

i just figured in 2 years, id buy another used xb

hmm.... I would just hold on to it, give the keys and plate to your wife or brother or someone who won't give them to you for 2 years, save the money you'd spend on gas, insurance, and upgrades, then in 2 years you'll have a good start on buying another xb to go with it. [up]

Seriously, I'd rather stare at a bike I couldn't ride then look at that empty spot in my garage for 2 years. It's not good for bikes to sit, but I don't think 2 years will be all that bad if you put in the work ahead of time to get it prepped for long term storage.

Keep in mind the only reason I'm willing to say all that is because you're too far away for me to buy it. ;)

if I did keep it, does anyone know what, at a minimum, the bike should be ridden? i could zip it up and down the street a few times a month or something...i dunno. the bike is my favorite toy i have. i live in CO, so the riding is absolutely phenomenal...

gawd damn it. ******* aggrivating. 2 years off that thing...

I think short rides are supposed to be worse for the bike than just shitting. I would just drain the fuel, change the oil, give the battery away, get some stands to keep your tires off the ground and then plan to replace the brake fluid and oil once you're ready to go. There might be something I'm missing, but that's all I can think of this early.

Otherwise you'd do best to have someone you actually trust to take it on a 30 minute ride every month or two to keep things moving.

dude. that sucks. sorry man. feel free to drop in here every once in a while or hit up on facebook.

I'll be lurking around keeping up with things for sure. I plan to buy another in 1.5 years and start tinkering with it.

24 hours since the bike sold. already in serious withdrawls. Total seller's remorse.

I'll be getting another bike this winter, working on it, and be back at it next summer.

303 I did the same thing a couple of years ago. Sold a 03 xb9r (I should have kept) and I was planing on getting a 1125 in 08 and then they came out with the ugly blue frame. So I waited a year and bought a 09 1125r. So morral to the story, their is light at the end of the tunnel. You will get another one, but man that was a nice xbs! Good Luck!

I would have posted earlier, but thanks for the bad ass ride Jack. I have literally spent every free moment riding since I got it.

Only bad part so far is it makes my Mustang feel slow, WTF I wasn't expecting that.

I like Jack and all, but damn... give it back. Lets wait till his leg gets a little better first.

You bring up a point that I have been thinking about. Do H-D and Buell riders have a rivalry or do they get along OK?

I am sure its better today then yesterday MileHi :D

its his head space and heartache we worry aboot [sad]

well some members of the forum have both rides...
for the most part we appreciate the history of H-D to a point but we have no use for owners of garage jewellery/fair weather riders or pirates decked out in everything H-D that enjoy spending more time polishing all the extra chrome they ordered instead of riding and when they do ride, it's from one place to another so they can congregate and talk chrome and bandana choice for the day....
:D

if I have posted something that offends our H-D riding friends, too bad ;)

or in the immortal words of Bender
"bite my shiney metal ass!"

:)

Oops, just noticed my typo. That's supposed to be 'sitting', incase you couldn't figure that out.

That's tough that you sold it. Go buy something that's not in riding condition and make a 2 year project out of it. Take your time and do it well and it'll at least give you something bike related to focus on.

At least it went to a good home. The kid I sold my last bike to was a tool, and he totally ruined the experience. I'm gonna be super excited when I go pick up my next bike so at least the guy will know I appreciate it.
