i need ideas on aftermarket exaust replacement to improve performance and make louder and meaner sounding. also, i prefer to keep the exaust under the bike but am open to hearing about other options too.

Try Youtube for the sounds. D&D and jardine are typical. I have the Jardine RT-1, installed easy and sounds meaner than the modified stock(corner cut or hole-drilled).

There are a few guys who have made their own, or modified non-blast specific models like Supertrapp, etc.

Put on a jardine rt-1 exaust and a f & n performance air filter and its awesome. Did the work myself, EASY! Top speed used to be 87 going down hill, now I'm letting up with more to go at 95 on a flat.

Another benefit of the Jardine(and presumably the D&D as well) in addition to performance gains is the significant weight savings and easier access to oil filter and transmission drain/adjustment bolts.
