Hey, please help !! I'm sure this has been talked about in previous posts but I can't seem to find exactly what my issue is. I have a 04 buell firebolt xb12r and yesterday all of a sudden ...... Shifting from 3-4th gear takes quite a bit of force. If I have the RPM up to 4000 it seems to go in a wee bit easier but not much. I've been told to do a oil change ( just bought it a month ago and now sure when the previous owner did one) so I'm on it this weekend regardless.

Also total newbie question ! So I'm reading other posts about tranny oil and I'm wondering how do I check the amount of oil in the tranny. I'm assuming I can't and asking as I keep my engine oil up the tranny will be fine. Assuming that the tranny oil is the same as the engine oil. .. Damn I wish I knew this stuff .....
Anyways I love the bike!! Love the look on peoples faces when the expect to he a Harley and the bad ass Buell is there lol
Thanks a lot for your help !!

use the same oil in both the primary and swing arm, 1 qt in the primary...and about 4 oz. / half full oil in the filter and the rest into the swing arm for a total of 2-1/2 qts...period! in total 3-1/2 qts used. check the chain tension while you're there servicing the primary.
your shifting issue could be due to worn shift forks, shifter return spring/shifter lever assembly not installed properly if previous owner worked on it. that's just speculation before removing the primary cover/splitting the cases and having a look.

being that you are a noob I would only recommend you adjust the clutch cable, lubricate the cable change the primary oil and adjust the primary chain. that's about all you can do without teardown
