2008 firebolt 6k lights go dim while riding /check light on and off

this was only the 2nd time i drove at night/the lights arent great to begin with. it has a new battery .while driving the lights dim then go back to normal/ rpm has no effect on the sitiuation./i checked the connection on the regulator it was good. /i did a jack rabbit start it wheelied nicely but i did set it down hard do to a car crossing my path. any help where to start with this is appreciated
