It will idle fine rolling up to a stop but when I put it in gear and start to slowly crack the throttle just off idle The rpm start dropping then catches as I keep opening the throttle and If I release the throttle the idle will sink all the way to 500 rpm or lower and slowly return to 1100 rpm. It will do it out of gear too just not as bad. If I try to start from under 2000 rpm it will have no power and usually back fire.fricking embarrassing. I can't clutch it lightly at idle to creep forward. the idle will just go away and stall. I have installed new Iridium plugs.did the crank case mod and put in a new UNI filter. Still does the same thing.. I going to do the tps reset next to see if it helps. Is this usual ?

Could that little anti-rev device be the issue? Supposedly an electronic retarding device that comes stock. I beleive it's meant to tone down heavy throttle starts.
I've got to build up rpms from a start on my 09,it seems.
Although it sounds like yours might be more of an issue.

Nope that's not usual. Give us some background on the bike. You get it brand new, any mods besides what you mentioned, is it still under warranty?

Since it won't take a min., check your grounds and battery terminal connections just to be sure the ECM and Electrics are all to ground properly.

Edit: Also, try to keep it to one thread by bumping it instead of starting new ones. ;)

picked it up in march as a demo bike with 400 mile. I have 1100 miles on it now. put the mod and the plugs and air filter last night hoping it would help. but the same problem. yes it is still under warranty. But I wanted to makes sure that it a problem. This is a different animal than al1 the other bikes I have owned.honda kaws.suzuki yammy.2 stroke 4 stroke 1 2 3 and 4 cylinders . nothing with this torque at the low rpm. it does have sort of a flat spot from 3000 to 4000 RPM. If I remember to not start out till 2000 it seem to run just fine. but when you pull up to a stop sign and you have time to squeeze in to traffic and the bike pops an just sort stalls for that split second..well not a good feeling . checked grounds last night and plugs. all I found was the adjustment lock nut loose for the muffler actuator cable,

Oh and the original plugs when I pulled them were Super clean.almost to clean ..But didn't look overheated. and also DAMN that rear plug wires a bitch to get on LOL

Did you try resetting the TPS? I bought my 09 12R and it idled poorly and had no power at low engine speeds. I reset the TPS and drove around a while. It smoothed out quite a bit.

The latest post sounds like a Stock bike that just isn't running optimal....in other words normal. But speaking of TPS resets, this may be of use: Curing the "Stumble". - (Forgot about it till someone mentioned TPS.)

yes I thought of doing this on my 2010 .but you can't due to the ecm tps reset takes the butterfly to be preset to the correct degree opening when reset. 2010 bike have the Idle screw covered with epoxy to prevent tampering. Factory manual says to replace throttle body if tampered with and that it could void warranty. I do think this is the root cause for that stumble off Idle and no way to fix it.....Yet. I will drop in at hardly and show one of the techs there. But jeash I hate people tinkering with my bike

well I went out and did the tps reset 3 time in a row because last time it didn't help and I wanted to make sure it did get reset this time. It was running kind of ragged when it starter up so I knew something was different,I then put some miles on her. tearing up some back roads getting down and and see how she holds the tarmac!!!! woo hoo that was a blast and the problem seems have disappear.not perfect but what can I expect with 2 jugs this size ..LOL But no more drop off of rpms when I start opening the throttle. thanks you for all your suggestions. hope to see you out there!!!

oops the problem is slowly starting to rear it ugly head again. I hand hold the throttle at the 1100 rpm and blip the throttle and hole it to the eleven 1100 rpm and it sounds super. but let go of the throttle and she drops to 500 and slowly creeps back to 1100. 1000 to 1600 rpm is just not smooth....I wish I could just set the cable tighter to hold the throttle open a little and it would be fine. can I do that or will it throw a code?

From what I have read from other forums and other posts it sounds like an intake leak. I believe this can be checked by starting the bike and spray some kind of combustible such as starter fluid or even WD40 around the base of the intake to see if there is a change in how the bike is running.
