240 Tire Chain Rub

Buellxb Forum

Help Support Buellxb Forum:

Okay, sorry...I was busy riding him. Heh. Bear is all done. There is the tiniest bit of chain rub still but I'm done effing with it. I worked on him all day Saturday and half a day Sunday then rode the piss out of him. Everything works great! Thanks you so much, Ilia! I'll post pictures as soon as I take them. I haven't put the sprocket cover on yet because I have to replace the neutral switch. Yes I took it out (5/8 socket thanks HD for mixing metric and SAE!) and cleaned it as well as stuck a jumper wire on the lead and grounded it. The N light lit up then so that wire is good and it's the switch. I'll order it soon. I also replaced the levers, grips, mirrors, front and rear pads, the rear tire, and completely changed the brake fluid on both front and rear reservoirs (with dot 4 that was shipped from Germany for my BMW 325is ...haha). I think it was the original fluid from '05. I also reorganized the rats nest of wires behind the flyscreen and took out the spacer/stalk for the front blinkers. They're still stock but much shorter and not as unsightly. I added LED plate lights too. Now I've got to change the front tire and I think that's it. Whew!

Thank you for all your help!

Whew. I love it. The R6 too. They're just completely different animals. Even the Buell with the 240 has a completely different feel on the tarmac than with the stock wheel. You literally have to muscle it into a corner. I mean countersteer the you-know-what out of it. I'll get my box of spares in August which includes the stock wheel. I might switch out the rear wheels every tire change to keep things fresh. That sounds like a plan!

Once you've tried fat rear wheel you'll never want to go back to skinny wheel ) By the way, fat rear tire will last longer than narrow tire because of bigger contact area with the ground.

a 180 tire ain't that narrow if you ask me. I think Starbuck's setup is cool but I also think the 180 tire looks awesome on the xb and I really enjoy the belt drive too. I just switched to the Dunlop Q3's and they are very sticky and aggressive as far as tip in. That lean ability is really what I enjoy most about my XB. To be honest my whole world changed dramatically, as did my riding confidence, after riding the buell on a track. I just wish I had more Buell friends to ride with :sorrow:

I will stick with my 190 rear but just out of curiosity i was wondering how does that 240 hook up in the wet do you lose any traction when upright due to that larger contact patch?
