49-8655 Clutch kit

states fitment: 90-97 Evolution Big Twins, 91-06 5-speed Sportsters and Buell models, it's a Barnett kit that uses 8 friction plates and 6 steel plates rather than 7 of each as stated in the parts catalog. anyone use this set up?

Barnett makes outstanding clutches for our bikes. When I need a new clutch that will probably be the way I go. I ordered a stainless steel conduit clutch cable directly from Barnett (made to order) and can't wait to try it out (I didn't need a new clutch cable, just wanted an upgrade and at the same time install the uograde clutch cable bracket I ordered from Ed at ASB).

thanks for the info, but the kit I'm referring to are of the friction and steel plates in the clutch pack

looking into another kit by Barnett, 306-30-20015 and also the Alto carbonite kit, which EBR sells, but out of stock

How many miles are on your current clutch pack? Are you replacing it because of a clutch failure?

63k +, replaced shift fork for wear, inspected all gears when the case was split, all are good to go, shift cam was also good to go, figured maybe the plates are slightly warped or something, can't see anything else out of the norm. haven't started to disassemble the clutch pack yet. have the tools to do it, but I'm back on hold again thanks to HD screwing people over by selling parts that are listed as sets, then only selling them as "each", the bastards! thought I was getting sets of both friction plates and steel plates, but got one of each instead.

The Barnett kit that is for the XB clutch is 306-30-20015. The stack height of the 49-8655 kit is not correct for the XB clutch nor does it have the narrow friction plate that is unique to the XB/XR clutch hub.
