Im in the process a few mods and I just have a couple questions. The bike is an 07 XB12S.
1) Has any ever sand blasted the side rails and tail piece before painting? A friend of mine has aluminum oxide and/or walnut shells for media. I just want to make sure im not going to destroy the aluminum or anything.
2) After mounting my D&D slip on, what should I do with the exhaust servo? I cant leave it there because im running the open airbox kit...
3) As far as the Race ECU, what should be done after installing with an exhaust and K&N? Can the bike be started and ridden before a TPS reset?

Thanks for any help! Im new to Buell....:D

I rode my xb9r about 10 miles to the dealership before the tps reset. It ran like shit though.

1. I would just sand the rails. I guess you could lightly glass bead them, but sanding works just as well and you dont get pits from heavy sandblasting.
2. ASB sells a servo eliminator here
3. You could also do an open airbox conversion. Then you could put either a Race ECM, or even better yet, have your current ECM remapped for your specific mods. The TPS is just the throttle position sensor, so as long as it's not idling super high, it should be ok to ride.

1. I sand blasted my rims before painting and no problems, but you really don't need to take the powder coat / paint all the way off before you spray it, just make sure it is all dulled out.
2.Im not sure about the servo with the race ecm but with a stock ecm you will need a servo emulator from ASB so you dont get the error code. Link servo emulator You may not need one on a race ecm but im not positive. You can just remove everything for the servo.
3. Yes you will need a tps reset, but i dont think you will hurt anything if you don't it just may not run very well or run at all. (Dont quote me on this one let some one second my to make sure.)

if you have a race ecm you do not need the servo emulator. thats the only think i can help you with.

If you get rid of the servo all together there is a part you put it so you dont start to throw any codes. Im not sure what its called its in one of the threads around here.

Thanks for the help guys! I cant wait for spring! And all this modding im doing is making the wait even worse!!

@ thaloc. Its a "servo eliminator". Both Gator Buell and I posted links to it previously in this thread. :D
