Had a busy weekend with the new bike. biggest mod was the fender eliminator, also did the dual headlight mod, added the 2010 tail light and shined the headers, what do you think?

oh, and I forgot to mention the Hawk exhaust, K&N filter and Mobile 1 synthetic oil in engine and transmission. not only does it look good it runs good.

Have you run the bike since polishing the headers? Just wondering if the color will start to turn when they heat up.

I want to clean my headers like that but there is a small dent/scratch in it from the previous owner. I think it would make it more noticeable if I clean them. Great looking bike you have there.

@Jeepin- I have a small dent in mine as well and it was actually less obvious when it was all cleaned up.

@ELMonkey- I did mine about a month ago, they were pretty bad to start but cleaned up in no time. I didn't coat it or polish it up with anything after the WD-40 and scotchbrite, so I'm not sure if you can prolong the shine with anything. It has started to discolor again, but not very much. It was so quick the first time I think in less than 10 minutes it will clean up again. It's definitely worth doing.

Looks great!

I have a question, was that black airbox and windscreen a color option from buell at one point?

Or did you paint that. I get confused with this and the translucent kick ash...

Thanks.

Black was probably the most common color of Buells. The kick ash is a charcol colored transparent piece.

elmonkey, I have ridden it a few times they still look good, but it has only been a week. I suspect I will have to do it again next spring but like I said it takes less than a minute so I'm not too worried. this is how they looked from the factory so I would assume they will turn copper again in a few hundred miles.

The headers stay pretty decent for a while. i shined mine up before last season then again before this season and after a couple of rides they still look like this:

UN FREAKIN REAL ! that WD40 and a scotchbrite work great on the pipes . After only a couple minutes of cleaning the headers look new ! Also used it on my 03 with the rough surface rims that had built up brake dust and it got it right off and the wheels look new. [up][up]

A few more things, painted my chin spoiler black, carbon look forks removed passenger pegs and belt guards, carbon racing stripe. and switched to amsoil for this oil change, seems to run a little better.

You can go over the headers when you're done with Mother's Polish for a real nice finish.

I've done 800-1200 grit sandpaper, then finished it with Mother's before. You get a really nice silver finish to them, but it goes away after a few hours of riding and they turn a nice copper color.

Looks great either way.

Ok took some pics of the 180 vs 190 rear. difference is subtle but I am happy with it and it handles as good as ever.
