Coincidentally, my Firebolt just started ticking about the same time of the recent post by qhrjsdl. It's barely noticeable but I know what I'm hearing. Strangely it also started with the recent cooler weather here in the desert. It's been in the low 70's the last few nights when i get out of work. Before that, mid 80's and up at night, 105-110 during the day. The oli level is fine and the oil is still new looking. I haven't changed it yet because the previous owner changed it the day before I bought it. He used synthetic and told me it was the "correct oil according to the manual" . Even though I've only put about 500-600 miles on it since then, I'm going to change it this weekend.

I won't be changing the primary oil yet (he did that also) but I am going to see if the primary chain needs to be adjusted. I was under the impression that you need the locking tool to do the adjustment but I just read a bunch of previous threads and no one mentions it. So if I don't need it to adjust the primary chain, it is only needed to adjust the clutch? Or something else? It doesnt seem complicated but I haven't adjusted a primary chain before and I just want to make sure I do it right. Thanks :)

It is so easy work. I also adjusted primary chain, but ticking is same :(

I also hear some another ticking when i use engine brake

mustang-guy: you're inquiring about simply adjusting primary chain?????
no special tools required and do it when bike is cold. all you need it torx bit to fit the torx screws on the inspection cover(the smaller sized cover towards top of primary cover itself), and a few standard sized 9/16th and 5/8th wrenches for adjuster bolt and lock nut at bottom of primary cover.

Yep, thanks for the clarification, lunatic. I'm going to check it out this weekend and adjust if needed.
