I installed Jardine RT1 and K&N on my 09 firebolt xbr12. I would like peps advice on the Race ECM from E.B.R! Times are tough don't have alot of $ and I don't need a super fast bike but I think the bike runs crappy stock(bloging and delayed throttle responds)! I have not rode it yet since upgrades do to winter of coarse. What is my best bet? Will it make the change that I need or should I keep stock ecm?

My vote is to do a custom tune using tunerpro. That is if you have a laptop and some time to do it. Otherwise the EBR ecm is the way to go.

Burn a race ecm onto your stock ecm,you can find out how to do it with the new buellmod page that has been set up.You'll need a ecm spy which you can get off of ebay or maybe someone here will let you use their's.

The "easy way" would be to go to EBR and buy a race ecm. They have one already mapped for the Jardine. It runs $250 ( http://www.ebracing.com/shop/product97.html )

The cheaper/better way would be to download ecmspy (for free), buy a $40 cable off e-bay or wherever and change the map on your current emc. With ecmspy though you can do some serious harm if you just go in changing things willy-nilly. If you're afraid of screwing things up just buy the race ecm and let Erik's boys do the mapping for you.

On the "easy way" you mentioned. Could you just pull the stock ecm and put the EBR emc on, with the Jardine can of course. Could you swap the stock pipe and ecm back and forth....ORRR does/would it require a TPS reset???

you can swap back and forth.y0ur bike is an 08 right.you can reset the tps by cycleing the throttle it takes about 10 sec

Whaaaaa?!! Yes mine is an O8. How would you go about doin that. Sorry if its been covered in a thread. Ive been reading and reading.

'08+ TPS Reset Procedure:

- Turn on the key.

- Set the kill switch to the run position.

- Don’t start the engine. Rotate the throttle from fully closed (gently forced closed) to fully open (gently held open), and then back again to closed (gently forced closed).

- Repeat 3 times. Hold each position (fully open, fully closed) for 1 full second.

- Turn the key off and on.Then ride between 3500-4500 rpm.

Ebr instructions also has you let the bike idle for 10 minutes to reset the IAC. Idle Air Control? Easy.

Really?? No ECMSPY for the 08+'s?? So does that leave me with an only option of buying a pre mapped ECM from EBR and that can.....Or have the tune it for me? I was a little nervous about trying to tinker with the ECMSPY but i liked the idea of it being an option. SHooooot!

No it leaves you with using Tuner Pro. Check out Octo's 1-1 training if your interested in training. He really knows his stuff when it comes to tuning the DDFI3 bikes. Are you comfortable with computers, following direction, and just generally using common sense when it comes to tuning? Pretty much the only way you can really screw up your bike (assuming you ONLY change the fuel map) is by taking away too much fuel at high rpm and high load.

I'm some what computer savvy but cant speak to much on my tuning skills. lol I most definitely will check it out tho. Is it a thread that Octo has posted?

Well as long as you know your way around the basics of a windows machine you will be fine. I can quick link the thread if it will help. It is the one that Octo has been posting to for awhile. I think his going rate is 125 for a 1-1 session. I attended his first session and wrote a review on a different thread.

I didn't know jack about tuning and I took a lesson from The Octopus, he's the man, for any level of experience he'll get you tuning your Buell in no time!

On a side note, he's a pretty cool guy and will help you out with any tech questions you have anytime. [cool]

Yea the link would definitely help. [up] i'll have to get in contact at some point i guess then. Just want to do a few opther things with the bike first before i go ahead and tune/put exhaust on her.

Proper Key switch TPS re-set for any 2008-2009 +IS AS FOLLOWS! Turn on ign., or-also called kill switch, first. Then turn key to on(do not start the bike)gauges will pulse(sweep)while this is happening Turn throttle to wide open (slightly firm)To closed throttle(slightly firm).Do this only 3-fulltimes! Then turn off key switch only. After turning off key switch ,then turn off your kill switch last. Then proceed to start the bike Key switch first then kill switch to ON position let fuel lite go off & start your bike .Please Do NOT touch the throttle at all.Let idle for at least 3 mins., if bike was hot. Let idle for ABOUT 5mins.,if Bike is cold as in sitting for at least 1&1/2hours.after warm up gently & smoothly twist throttle several times going up in RPM range to about 4000rpms.That should do it.! If by chance it Spits OR coughs ,Start over let her sit shut down about 1min.Also you should RE-set TPS every time you fill up! W/premium fuel, I know prices suck! I myself use 110oct. true racing fuel from the Racing shop here in Jax.FLA. 1/4 cup every 3rd fill up . Plugs look great/runs a little better too! BTW theres no set screw for idle on 2008+XBs.Good Luck.

Once the bike idles properly take her out to a good area Run the rpms as close to the 3500 for about 1mile in 3rd gear then another mile at 4500rpms in 4th gear Slip it into 5th gear after that You can ease down on throttle. This works on Stock ECMs pretty good when only minor changes have been done (exhaust) ect...Be carefull know your roads .Make sure when you shift BE smooth so ecm can learn your new add ons. After that Go Baby Go!Ride Safe.
