I currently have a 2005 lighting and love the bike, but after searching and reviewing a little I was wondering if the 1125cr would be better suited for 6'6" person. I know it seems hard to beleive but the lighting is pretty comfortable but I would like to have the 145hp. Have any taller riders been on this bike yet such as 6'4"+. I've been thinking about the KTM route since I have a couple of them, but the American made part keeps my roots home. Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

Maybe someone with hands-on experience will post up, but have you had a chance to test ride one yet?

The CR does feel a bit bigger. It's a longer wheelbase. Yous should read Motorcycle USA's naked comparison. You'll get a CR after.

[up] For AMERICAN. Stay True. I am also waiting to read the answer. I am not HUGE at 6'6" so my 6'3" fits for now on my lightning. As long as it is a buell, more HP = Better

I would stay with Buell because the models have been very similar for a long time. You will never have problems finding parts where KTM parts stop being produced after 5 years.

Thanks for the replies guys. I have not had the chance to test ride one or even ever visit a Buell center since I'm about 4hrs away from one. I did the research on them and really like them. Pretty sure I'd fit since everything is always small and I'm use to it by now. Just wanted to know if the 2 inch difference or whatever it was made a difference to the tall and lanky. I did get a chance to ride the Ktm 990 Adventurer and love that bike. I'm Dutch by blood but was born on American soil so I just feel I need to buy American. Plus Buell is a bitchin bike to par in any form.

frame is same as mine. '07 Firebolt. Im 6'5" 250lbs. it just the leg room issue u have to deal with. sometimes feels like your on a wakeboard with handlebars...:p

Dude iv road a CR twice, my normal ride is an 08 XB12R. The CR is a whole new beast. That bike is almost scary fast. The position is much like my 12R's clip-ons, with much more leg room. Stock adjustable toe pegs. I love that bike but my license needs a break so imma wait a few years.....

Can you take a 1125r and change the headlight to a CR and be the same or are the ergonomics different. Finding the R's for sale all over.

It has been done, but from what I hear, they basically had to swap entire front ends.

The CR has different gearing though. Unless you're doing nothing but track riding, you'd want the gearing of the CR

So I found a CR and am going too look at it tomorrow. Its a 3 hour dive one way but he's going to give it to me for 6400.00 and 7000 out the door I think. Its killing me not knowing if I fit on this bike so I'm going to give it a wirl and drive the distance. Its either a ktm adventure or this buell that will complete my collection.

Bought it for 7100 loaded in the truck. All black, and didn't even test drive it until I got home. Gotta say the bike is awesome and it fits my 6'6" frame so much better than the lighting. Have the clubman bars but they have to go, but besides that its the power I was looking for. Some may say I could of gotten it cheaper but after calling eleven buell dealers and them telling me we're "sold out" I said what the heck. Man this thing rocks....

Logged 1000 miles so far and have to say that I'm in love. Have gotten use to the low profile bars and don't see any need to go with the talls yet, but if any freaks of nature are reading, this bike is for us. If you need any pics of my sexy body on it to be a believer just let me know. Too bad they aren't going to make it anymore.

fits someone 6'6".

Congrats on picking up the CR and I agree with your observations about the bike. Return the bike to stock suspension specsa and then adjust from there, made a big difference.
