That's arguable. In reality, it shouldn't. That being said, sometimes HD can really be ****** about that.

Worse comes to worse, you could always just swap the stocker back on before services.

No it wont unless they can prove your exhaust was to blame for the problem you're having.

Doing your own or having an independent shop do your scheduled maintenance void the warranty?

WHAT ?????? are you saying that or asking that ???

doing your own maintenance or having someone other than dealer do it will NOT VOID any part of your warranty (I'm not a lawyer But) there is no law that says the dealer has to perform your maintenance or it will void your warranty.and they can not put that in your warranty as a requirement for warranty.i have delt with that before in previuos job.
and +1 for what dave_xb12r said.

I do need to add to what i said above ;
there can be certain clauses in a warranty requiring certain parts or vehicles computer software programs to require it to be serviced by a certified and/or authorized repair facility, because of newly patented technology. this might force you to go to a dealership service because they usually have the rights to it usually for the first few years on such things, plus other service shops might not have access to the proper tools, machines or trainng that maybe required for to be certified and authorized. you should not have that problem with a buell...(this is usually on high end vehicles or extremely new vehicle computer techology)
if the sales or service people tell you that you have bring it to the dealer for any service in order to keep from voiding warranty they are full of it, they are just trying to get you to keep coming back to dealer for service so they dont lose money to other shops.
