After 3 years away from Buells I finally bought myself a Buell from a Melbourne dealer. I've been on the hunt to turn my 09 xb12r into the monster I used to have(06 xb12r with race kit, professional tuned suspension and power commander). First on my shopping list was an after market exhaust.

Researched all the 'cans' and finally spoke to a Melb aftermarket Buell parts supplier. He talked me through the pro's and cons of all exhausts available and even compared them to exhausts not available new anymore. After a long discussion I've settled on a Torque hammer. It sounds absolutely amazing! I've only heard it on his bike ATM as I've not been able to fit it to mine yet.

Just wanted to say a BIG thank you to Peter, and if any new comers to buell world need aftermarket parts from someone who is a veritable encyclopedia on Buells I could not recommend anyone higher than him. PM me for details if wanted.

On the topic of my new ride, wanted to ask a question of the forum as I've purchased a Japanese import bike and am having difficulties comparing her to my old bike as it seems that at4k rpm's she has a massive flatspot. Has anyone else experienced this? She only has 2k km's on the clock and is completely stock (ATM anyways :) ).

Thanks and thanks to all on here as I've found it an incredible source of info.

pete is an awesome bloke. agreed. you bought an import. i would be interested to know more. how did it go and how long did it take. i would love to buy a 2009/10 scg lightning.

Hey mate, I've just joined again. Can't remember my old login or password :) Cheers mate, nice to be back!

The bike seems really under powered from what I remember but I've never ridden a stock Buell so can't compare...will write more once I get Aus headers and fit the can..

I'm confused, are you asking about a new Buell you purchased or a new jap bike you purchased?

Welcome back! [up]

I think he means he purchased it from japan. My guess would be the bikes ecm has acclimated to the baro and altitude of Japan and will take time to learn to be in Aussie land.

mate... i just picked up a 2009 stock buell. pretty much new. seemed realy nice. i think maybe too that hte ecm needs to adjust to the air. other option is going a ebr ecm with your new pipe. i am right now considering those options myself.

when you log in. i am interested to know more how your import went. did you use IMI?
