I guess I will try some force tonight. Don't have a compressor, but I can sure as hell smash a screw driver it and if that fails just drill it out.

hey deltaone i dont know if u have done this yet but mine was really stiff too and was starting to bend my key so i just held the flap open where u put the key in and i sprayed some wd-40 in there and it works like brand new now

Thanks I'll try that
I was worried about making it worse with wd40 if it were to dry out the plastics and/or rubbers in there.
Good to know it works [up]

i just used wd 40 cause thats what i had any type of lubricant would work and would probley be better than wd 40

You can actually get a product called lock-eze it is a dry graphite that loosens up the lock and allows it to turn easier.

I wouldn't mind a cheap one too, got some nice ones for Jap bikes on ebay for $30.

But you ready need someone with access to different Jap bikes to do some measurements and trial fitment to see what might work.

Any volunteers?

Curious if this cap would work for you Delta. It fits Ducs but mentions a replacement for all 5 hole gas caps.

That one would probably work but it is still very expensive. The way that the ad reads is that it fits Yamaha's. If that is the case then the following ad also states is fits "all Yamaha's" , is only 50 bucks and is a site sponser (I think). Only downside is that it would ony be available in black or gold. The upside is that as mentioned before we have a DIY anodizing thread and could easily change the color with a quick sand blasting (or buffing).

Delta if you go this route please let us know how it works out. If you decide not to then I probaly will.

Im going to try and lube my lock first (hehe that sounds dirty lol) just because Christmas has broke me and its a much cheaper route for now.

but Ill also try and go into my local race shop with the assembly on Tuesday to see what they think about it matching a Duc or Yamaha, I am betting they will have one in the shop to compare to.

the ride it ones look like they have 3 functional holes and 3 false on the black unit and only 3 holes total on the gold.
I'm not too worried about the offset at this point, I don't think it will make a real difference
but ironically I was thinking about that as well

The Duc one is way too big, I think. It looks the same as the one for my Triumph, which is way bigger than the Ilmberger. The cap itself is the same, but the surround is where the size difference is.

man if the cap is the same size than I agree that unit is huge

I kinda hoped it was a smaller cap pushed offset a bit like this one

dang I wish these things had dimensions

That's a great deal. Jump now, because if they go out of stock, Ilmberger is real slow getting them back to EBR.
