So, I bought a NOS Valencia Orange airbox cover of ebay from Sun Harley Davidson in Colorado. Now, how do I get the Buell sticker off without screwing up the airbox? I've gotten them off the regular covers before, but I know the translucent covers are a lot more delicate.

Why do you want the stickers off...you're not going to paint it are you?

Wait? Why the hell would I spend that kind of money to buy a Valencia Orange cover and then paint it?? I'd have just painted my black one...

I just don't want the stickers on there. If I do, I want the Orange ones that match my Seat/Rims(03 XB9R "Buell" Sticker). But I sure as hell don't want the "translucent" Amber stickers. I got rid of that color on the rims already, and the windscreen is coming in soon I hope...

I used a hair dryer to heat up the letters and after they softened up they pulled right off. I used 3-M adhesive remover for the little bit of glue that was left over. If it's a new airbox that hasn't been out in the elements they should be easy to remove.

Barry,
I too have heard the same. Its gonna be tricky but you might try a hair dryer on low heat first on the underside of the cover. Directly underneath the adhesive. If you can get it warm enough it should get softer and allow you to peel them off slowly. I peeled the ones that said "american motorcycles" right below the big logos.
It was a few years back and the bike had sat in the Sun. They did just peel of though.
Good luck- [up]
