Just wondering if anyone on here has done this. Ran a search but came up with nothing. Brand? Price? You like? Thought it would be trick!

Remote start? On a bike?[confused]

That's just asking for trouble. Post vids if you remote-start it while it's in gear, though.

Haha. You guys got jokes. I don't tend to leave my bike in gear when it's parked. So shouldn't have an issue there. The remote start would obviously be rarely used. More of a show item. Could you imagine someones reaction that keeps standing around your bike when all the sudden it "ghost fires"? That would be kinda funny though if someone left their bike in gear and was able to remote start it and it fell over. Not really but I'd laugh. So long as it wasn't mine. The alarm would serve some what of a purpose though. So it sounds like this may be a rareity on a buell.
@ bullet proof
Love my bike. I think I'll keep riding her! ;)

I'd assume there's some sort of fail safe so that it wouldn't fire if it was in gear and the clutch wasn't engaged. Just like regularly starting it.

Just hook it through the neutral safety switch, problem solved.

I figure a remote start for a car will work on a bike too... I'm gonna see what I can find.

bigger concern I would have is the reastion of that guy you pranked by starting it remotely... a simple kick to the shifter would be an easy revenge.. [confused][confused]

Yeah I guess there are plenty of possibilies on bad things that could happen as a result of a little fun. At the same time, someone on any given day, could decide to just come up and push my bike over or hit it with their car door so on so on. It's just a mod I'm thinking of doing. Its like putting under body lights on your bike or a custom paint job. Like I said thought it'd be kinda different. I'd enjoy it.

Just FYI, the systems for cars are illegal on manual transmissions because of all the same problems. "I leave it in neutral most of the time" and "I want a remote starter" probably are not a good mix.

On cars you have to engage the clutch to start wether it is in neutral or not. On the bike you only have to engage the clutch if it's in gear. Not to many fans on this idea huh?! It's pretty far down the list on things I plan on doing to my bike this winter. If price isn't right I won't be doing it any way. Gonna be installing Hids, doing a tail swap, axle sliders, led signals, bar end mirrors, maybe modifying my nose piece, possible paint, designing my own dash plate from xbdashboards.com. Got a list of stuff before alarm/remote start. Still any info is welcome.

Hi guys, I have 2 way alarm system on my 08 xb9sx, it comes with remote stater, but i didnt hook up wirings for remote start since its too complicated for me, but alarm system works well, 2 way pager works within 2 or 3 blocks away, took me 5 hours to install, no fun but worth it, it does have netural safety switch, it says during remote started to warm up, if without the key, engine will cut off when the speedometer detected. the alarm system i got from ebay, the name of alarm is SPY, im sorry for this long one, [smirk]

only on some cars. my jeep would start in gear

Hi Forum,
Thought i might start this one up since it's been years.
What security device (alarm, immobilzer, disc lock etc etc) does anyone recommend?
Cheers.

My suggestion get a good remote if your going to do it, then make sure it works, test it alot. I had one on a jeep and sometimes it would not start but turn over the engine and would take 3-4 times before it would stay running. I double checked connection still nothing. Weird. But I know with the batt drain from turnover on buell it could turn out bad If you kill batt then your stuck. Probly not good idea if your inside or can't make sure it's running. Just a heads ups.

As for the ability to remote start..to prank or warm up while standing around, Sweet! I was actually thinking of doing it. The neutral safety can be bypassed I did it in my mustang. So buy a good one don't skimp mine was only 40-60, wire diagrams in manual for ignition. It should be a couple wires to ign and a couple to lights if you want then neutral switch and your done.

Not sure about alarm with start but I have one with a disable so even if its started with the key or hot wired I can shut it down alarm link

Any remote start alarm will do. Hook the neutral safety wire up to the neutral light on the cluster and you are good to go.
