Is this a respectable brand?

I ordered the T Exile Jacket yesterday for a pretty decent price.

Alpinestars IS the brand, they have been the benchmark riding gear for years.
You did good.
I would look into a leather also, they provide better protection in an accident and are warmer on cooler nights.

I have an Icon leather Jacket and Alpinestars gloves.

I wish my jacket fit is well as my gloves.

I plan on buying myself an Alpinestars jacket for myself Christmas style.

I had an alpine textile when I went down, no road rash or anything, in fact, the only real damage was done by the fire department when they cut it off of me.

I have both an A* leather and mesh/textile jackets. Love them both. The fit is superb. Most comfortable riding jackets I've ever owned.

You can't go wrong with A* IMHO...
