So the question is simple, I have mainly had cooling questions on the forum because if any of you know heat is the number reason for engines losing so much power, anyway here's the question.

Does the ambient temperature outside determine how long and which fans operate after shutdown?

If not, can someone explain what does?

I think is combined with the temperature of the rear cylinder. If its warm outside it will take a little longer to cool down the rear cylinder then when its colder outside.
There is only 1 fan that runs. At least on mine[smirk]

Yes, just as Petrus said. There is only one temperature sensor that the ECM uses to directly control the fan - the Engine Temperature sensor in rear cylinder head. The ambient temperature only affects how quickly the engine heat can be dissipated into the air.

On my bike:
Fan Key-On On temperature: 235 C
Fan Key-On Off temperature: 195 C
Fan Key-Off On temperature: 130 C
Fan Key-Off Off temperature: 110 C
