Im drinking while i post this (yea being a total prick) I think both are very worthy bikes. Tyler, have you seen what goes into making a 1190rs? Its amazing to me that it costs only 40k. Its a hand crafted american superbike.
I wouldnt expect any less of ducati, they have millions to toss at race bikes, i would expect their street bikes to be superb. I think the the new 1199 looks amazing, itsi a really good looking bike. Ducati has a good thing going for them right now.
I really want to see a magazine do a comparo against the two on a track. I would love to see an american superbike wipe up the italian one. Kind of like the cr bested the streetfighter.
Tyler, if you like the ducati so much go put some money down on a preorder and join a duc board.
I do have to say that the 1199 exhaust looks better, if i had 40k to blow on a 1190rs i would put up a youtube video of me sawzalling off that extra muffler. Yes i know it unbolts, i would still sawzall it off...
You know what Tyler I think Ducs are great bikes.I always wanted a duc but just didn't have that kind of money to spend on a new Duc.Then one day I found a CR1125 at a great price,After riding it for the summer I just fell in love with the power and handling of the bike.Eric new what he wanted to build and Harley would only give him a little at a time. Now he is working on his own terms and has built a great bike and yes its a 40K bike and worth every cent of it!!!Everyone has a builder that they like more than others so please support your builder but never hate on someone else for liking a different builder.(I do mean that in the nicest way)
I think Tyler was just wondering..What Do you See that makes it worth 40k..........Legacy and Drive....
Don't think i have seen anyone from this web forum to put the money where there mouth is a buy one of the first 100....
IF we could all buckle down and buy nothing but american stuff our country would be better. But face the facts we all like to save our hard earned money $$$$
Can't wait to see Erik make production bikes at a reasonable price....But to be honest (Zips fire proof suite) It better be powerful udder reliable and handle like it is on rails...Or I will Keep Riding My Kaw....
I loved my 1125r and Cherry has my xb. But i got tired of dealing with searching for parts and Breaking down.
I've been curious what the people who've bought the 1190RS would do for service issues if needed since there appears to be no dealers out there yet. If they have a mechanical issue are they supposed to crate them up and send them back to EBR ? That's one reason i'd take the Ducati over the EBR and i'm a Buell junkie !
wallsbx thats what they did with the dodge viper in 1992 ship it back,i was a dodge mechanic and it was mine..broken keyway on camshaft.car hauler came and got it,took 6 months.
Why anyone compares the 1190 to anything is beyond me. It's a publicity stunt. It's Erik building the bike he's been wanting to for years. It's not for you, Tyler. It's not for me. It's not for anyone on this board or anyone who bought one. It's for Erik Buell. And a way for him to cut his ties with Harely and make a sharp distinction between what was then and what is now.
The creation of the 1190RS may be a little of all the above. The $40,000.00 price tag and 100 build run was not meant for us Tyler it is meant to :
A.) Allow EBR to race you must meet a minimum of 100 production machines IIRC.
B.) Start up money for the company
C.) Entice future investors with a competitive machine.
To put it simply if all goes well and they are competitive, there will be a EBR production bike at competitive pricing in the future.
To compare any exotic hand built small run to a mass produced machine isn't really fair.
Look simply at an Aston Martin @$186,000 and a corvette @$65,000 the corvette is better in many ways and much more consumer friendly, but they still sell Aston Martin and a lot of them too.
It's what people want that makes a machine nothing else smoke and mirrors always has been always will. If I had throw away money which I don't I would have a Buell 1190RS just because it's what I want but for now I'll have to settle for an 1125CR that I bagger brand new for $5K and guess what when I ride with my Ducati friends people somehow always end up setting up in front of the what do you know Buell hmph go figure? If this works you will see that Ducati's also arrive at places relatively the same time as us
