Hey guys, I'm just looking to see if everyone agrees with what I believe is a crapped out starter. I go to start my 08 XB12R and I here a "whirling" sound with what feels like not engagement and not ticking or turning over what so ever. It's did that the first attempt to start it on my ride in to work on Thursday morning but ended up cranking on the 3rd attempt. But when I tried to start the bike up to ride home after work, I only had that whirling sound on each of my 5 attempts to start it. I thought I was gonna be stranded at the office and of course I was the last one to leave. I put the bike in gear and rocked it back and forth hoping for some kind of engagement as I tried to start it. Finally it started and I rode home. I feel like it's the starter and I'm prepared to order one unless any of you believe it's my battery not giving me the cranking amps I need. I keep it on the battery tender when I don't ride for any periods of time. It has occasionally hard started on my after getting gas and trying to start up again quickly. It has 12k miles and I'm the original owner. Thanks guys.

get a meter, and check to see what reading your getting out of the battery before you go spending many money.

Have you ruled out bad starter switch? I know there have been a few other posts on here about problems with it.
