I have been hearing this knock as I'm driving down the highway every once and a while. Thought it was the bearings again. I put it on the rear stand and kicked it over and I don't hear anything but the usual clutter clatter from the motor. Not coming from the wheels. But when I get it into gear on the stand it clanks and knocks. It sounds as if its from the lower end. Is this normal? No way. Here's a video. Maybe somebody will tell me that the tranny is trashed. I don't know. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=meMlxLzUJjo

Thats in gear with the clutch pulled right? Do you have safe way to put it in gear and let it run with the clutch out. That could help you rule out the clutch side.

Hmm... The bottom ends on the 1125's arent known to have issues... There have been several with transmission issues but from what ive read/seen it usually rears its head pretty catastrophically...

Does the noise change between pulling the clutch and letting it out, I know it'd be hard to tell over the bike revving.

It's really hard to tell from the video, and I don't know anything about the 1125's. But when I was a mechanic at the Ford dealer we used to use a stethoscope to help identify where its coming from. They can be had for cheap at a nurse/medical store. It will really help you pinpoint the area. Just move it around until the noise is the loudest.

Fired it up again on the stand ans put it in gear and when it atarted to rattle I would pull the clutch in and it would stop. It's like theres slop and then the clutch tightens it. Is that normal?

Mine makes more noise with the clutch released. Its hard to tell if the noise is abnormal from your video. Mine chatters its a#$ off and its more evident when engine breaking but I believe the loud chattering is the 4 balancer shafts this engine has plus all of the timing/balancing gears are straight cut which is very noisy.

I think im gonna go ride her until something breaks again. In the meantime if I can find a good 08 12r I may try trading. I never felt apprehension towards the xb like with the 1125

So someone suggested looking at the front pulley sprocket on the final drive. There are rubber cush balancers in there. They could the So the question is do I need, or how to make a special tool to hold the sprocket on while I torque on this nut. Never taken this thing off and wanted a little guidance to make sure I get it off and on correctly. I'm wondering if I can replace just the rubber things or will I have to replace the whole sprocket or pulley or whatever it is called.

No special tool needed, a impact greatly helps though. its basically a inner and outter shell design.Put the bike in gear other foot on the break and you can breakover the nut holding it together.

Let us know!

I will let you guys know. Im thinking if I can find a zx10 pr a decent r1 I wanna trade. I like the buell but also like the refined jap bikes
