Answers: Should I wrap my pipes with exhaust tape?

Its current use on custom bikes is a visual theme that builders apparently like, but it has no function. If you walk through racing paddocks at MotoGP or World Superbike events, you will see no woven fiberglass tape wrapped around pipes.

Ceramic coating on the other hand, does work.

It's current use on my bike is to hide the unsightly ding from a drop by the previous owner. At least it was, until the wrap came off the front pipe. I really need to repair that pipe and have them ceramic coated...

Sounds like a perfect excuse to get a new set of headers from Dean Adams. ;)

I do support the vendors here quite a bit, but I also have a spare set of headers that I plan on repairing and sending out for ceramic coating... but it's one of many winter projects.

Give me the aesthetics and colorations of a freshly-burnished set of stock pipes anytime.

My headers are wrapped. They were wrapped when I bought the bike... I'm kind of afraid to take it off and see what's under them.

I've never liked the way wrap looks. I think it completely ruins the look of the bike and looks like someone cut up an old crappy blanket and wrapped it around their pipes.

I'm sorry to those of you that have it or like it but that's just my opinion on it.

I love the way DEI Titanium wrap looks

But wanted to change the look

I never felt a difference in the temp on right leg just liked the look.

I honestly think your bike looks 5 billion times better with that beautiful shine on the pipe. The first pic looks like you were out riding and hit a small mummy. Your bike is always a stunner no doubt but I can't deny how great those polished headers look.
