Anybody running Slick 50 Engine Treatment?

Living here in California it gets very hot and most of my friends have bikes with water cooling so they don't understand that I can't just sit idle... So based on what you guys are saying, adding additives to the engine/swing arm is ok,just not to the Primary correct
Interesting old thread Superman. It's timely too since Slick 50 was the exact additive which I was recently referring to on another thread here. As I also said there, a friend and I got no noticeable benefit from it when, just for fun years ago, we ran it for a season in our air-cooled bikes. In fact, the next season my valve guides were worn (perhaps coincidence, but the additive sure didn't help).

I am up in Canada where it's not as hot as Cali, but we still get our share of 40C (100F) days, and even in those temps my XB has never hinted that it's struggling with the heat. Sure the fans come on but thats what they are there for.

I would personally prefer to go without any additives and put my money towards a decent motor oil and a pint of beer!

Treatment in all my bikes for years now

[confused] what Bikes did you had.... did you used Slick 50 also with wet Clutches???

There's a lot of "seems to me" type of "evidence" in this thread. That's a really crappy way of knowing anything, especially when you are already biased towards believing a particular thing, or trying to justify spending money on something you didn't really need. Seems to me that none of the other variables are being taken into account when something seems to you (blanket 'you' for this thread).

Skepdic - Slick 50

I can hear a difference when I add it. The sound changes slightly, in a good smooth way.

What are you a bat?! I would love to have your ears winnetka. Living in Austin I would get a job as a sound engineer tomorrow and make a fortune.
I'm not making fun of you at all. I'm just saying that with a helmet on, traveling at speed, hearing the roar of the 1203 motor coming out of a sans-baffle pipe, I can't imagine any way in hell I'd be able to hear the engine running smoother just due to an oil additive. Mad props though. And all good info & feedback since I'm due for an oil change myself.

i believe bats use radar. :D
AGAIN....unless you're using an additive to swell seals and stop leaks.....or a high zinc concentrate additive to enhance cam and lifter protection in a REALLY OLD vehicle.......oil additives are pitched by snake-oil salesmen and are a complete and utter waste of hard-earned cash.

When i joined the Army a few years ago, they diagnosed me with 40-50% hearing loss (probably from playing drums for 10 straight years with no hearing protection) so my ears aren't the best, but when i changed from whatever oil the HD Dealer put in my bike before it, to Lucas High Temp Synthetic last summer, i could not heard the difference at WOT, but even with my HJC RPHA-Max on and D&D exhaust, at stoplights and stop signs, i COULD in fact heard the difference at engine idle. My engine was much quieter with much less of a clunking sound coming from the front of the engine and i feel like i even gained a little on the top end, as well as now my engine runs substantially cooler. I guess my main point is that sometimes, little things like these can in fact make a noticeable difference, especially to a trained ear ;)

Agreed! However, some of us sleep better believing we have spent our hard-earnd cash offsetting all percieved risks, while others of us sleep well, comfortable with risks, and with a little extra hard-earned cash in pocket.:D
