Someday I want to get a windshield that will easily attach and remove from my handlebars. I'm rarely ever on the highway, but if I knew I was going to be for a few hours I wouldn't mind something easy to put on there to block some wind, hopefully getting rid of a lot of the noise I get on the highway. I recently saw a uly flyscreen/windshield for sale and was wondering if that might do the trick. I know I saw someone fit one onto their lightning on this forum, but they replaced the whole setup, brackets and all. I was curious if it would be possible to drill some new holes, possibly use a spacer or two on the back, and just bolt the uly flyscreen onto the normal lightning brackets. I don't see why it couldn't be made to work.

For any of you guys with an xbx or xbxt, does that windscreen actually do anything for you on the highway(70-80mph)? I'm sure it works will if you tuck behind it. Does it do much if you're sitting up straight? I'm only 5'8 so my head isn't too high as it is, but there's no where I can go on my xbs that isn't ridiculously loud and my two options are to either listen to the noise from the air running along the bottom edge of my helmet, or tuck down and hear the rumbling of the air running over the top of my helmet. It's hard to tell how big the Uly screen is without actually seeing one in person. Would I do better just to look for something like a National Cycle windshield instead? I'm gonna make a 5 hour trip to see my sister down in DC this spring and I wouldn't mind a little wind protection for the trip, as long as it was something I could just remove when I got there.

I remember seeing pictures of one on badweb - in fact, he also swapped the rear from an S to an R, and it looked pretty good. I'll see if I can find them.

Thanks for finding some information! I remembered the tail swap as well, so we must be thinking about the same bike. I just couldn't think of any key words to search for that would actually find anything productive. I was browsing ebay for a while and I'll probably just try to pick up one of those removable national cycle windshields. It'll probably be cheaper, will work on any other bikes I own in the future, and this way I wouldn't have to keep my original flyscreen in my bag to put on when I got there.
