There's a guy sellin a 2003 xb 9 s black bike but it has 25000 miles. Anyone ride an Xb with high miles? Anything over 20k scares me, it has a jardine and tail chop. No chin fairing otherwise pretty decent. Askin 2500

I have heard of these engines getting well over 50,000 miles. Remember also these aren't rice rocket engines. the Buell engine is very easy and economical to rebuild.

what i would consider is a year or two from now if it needs a trans or engine that can cost 3500 bucks if you cant do it yourself is the bike worth 6000k.

I have 62000kms in my 03' xb9s. But i did cook a crank bearing at 53000.. repaired it myself for approx $400. There is no guarantee when buying used, it's always a bit of a gamble. Nothing risked, nothing gained. [smirk]

I have 35,xxx on my 03 xb9s. This bike has never failed on me and I run the absolute crap out of it. I wouldn't be scared at all to buy one with 20k on it.

It all depends on how it was cared for and you really have no way of knowing for sure. I bought my first XB12s with 15K and rode it hard as a DD till 27K then sold it. It ran like a top w/o issues. I plan to log 60-80K on my 2010 scg before a rebuild but I take GOOD care of my stuff.

Definitely take it for a lengthy test ride and see how everything feels and works when cold AND after it warms up. You should have a good idea at that point.

Yep... Been riding the crap out of mine for 27k and no issues yet. I'm a firm believer that maintenance is the key..

Ask the owner about the maintenance schedule, did e keep up with oil and filter changes and major services and how hard was it ridden it's an 03 so if you pick it up you'll want to think about replacing the belt as well if it hasn't been done in the last 8-10k miles. There is a thread on here as well with tips and info on buying a used Buell. $2500 seems about right as far as price goes but you can probably talk him down a couple hundred dollars and either way you'll end up with an awesome bike so long as everything checks out. Good luck!

Just hit 28k today on my 2009. Still running like a champ! I'm pretty strict about maintenance too.

Over 30k when my gasket went. I'd replace gaskets at about 25 or 30 if you're noticing oil leaking or something like that

I don't minnd that my bike has 19500 (mi) since I put all of then on it. Had 3600 when I bought it. I know that its been taken care of like its supposed to be. Buying a bike with a lot of miles does sometimes scare me since there's no telling how it was treated

haha you guys are awesome thanks for the input, sounds like you all ride the crap outta these bikes! Sweet, do you think they'll resell with high miles well? That's also a big question in my mind

You can probably get 2000 for a high (30k+ miles) bike in good condition.

Yep..once you put a lot of miles on it you might as well keep it because the resale value isn't all that good.

You could always run miles up. Then rebuild with pistons, cams, valves, etc. Then let the buyer know. Be worth a little more.
