Powder coat on a muffler, I wouldn't chance it. I've seen powder coat get soft on engine cases, they don't get anywhere near as hot as a muffler, especially where the headers joins to it. Ask reputable powder coat shop first if it could work.

High temp paint or ceramic coat really is the best and cheapest options.

I agree to but to a modified muffler, I had mine bake right off, but I had a stock pipe powder coated and it held up just fine. Seems like they would offer a clear ceramic....?

You can sort of see in this picture where the powder coat started to burn, but it was where I had a J-pipe in the muffler to redirect the exhaust.

Not sure clear is offered in Ceramic but here is a big list of some colors that are

Awesome xtreme, didn't realize there were so many color options for ceramic!

Guarantee powder coat will burn at the header to muffler junction and where that pipe is connected to the muffler. It's just a bad idea when ceramic is available, especially now that there's so many color options!
