I bought a Diesel Moto tail section got it powder coated and went to put it on, long story short while putting it on it snapped right at the inner most bolt hole (One of my seat rails was bent) now I have a useless tail section I cant use and will need!!! So can anyone fix it? Or is it just a useless hunk of alluminum? PLEASE HELP!!!!!!! No I dont have pics right now sitting at work all night

the subframe is cast, which is ALOT harder to weld than normal aluminum alloys like 6061 5054 or T9 alloys...

you can do it but whoever does it should be a prettu good welder before they attempt it... part will probable have to be pre and post heated, and it will probably wreck your powder coat...

if i was closer id do i for you but im almost to canada! haha

Well Wolf you suck! HAHAHA BTW Wolf I got the rail in today just before I left for work and I will know in a day or two if I need the spacers! I will let you know if I need the spacers or not!

Black I could mail it to you if you woyuld be willing to do it? Im not worried bout the pwder cating I got a great Coater here that has done allot of my stuf!!

When I get home I will try to take some Pic's with the new HD camera I got last week and see if either of y'all even think u can fix it!! I have an uncut tail section but I really dont wanna cut into it if I dont have to plus I already paid 145 for this damn thing!!!

Kuntree, I thought we had a discussion about stuff like this, I do repair work, I am "supposed" to be off all weekend coming up, if I can't do it, I know someone that can, I'll pm you

I work at the most knowledgeable aluminum filler metal manufacturer in the world. If you need anything or any knowledge, let me know (PM since I rarely visit threads not on the front page). I have access to more aluminum knowledge than you would ever find if you combined all books on AL welding.

www.maxal.com (website is under construction but has some helpful PDF's on fillers).

Always looking for good resources, MacBuell, I just happen to be a couple of miles down the road from Kuntree, and my dad and I do a lot of repairs on the local farmers equipment type stuff, tractors and trucks, ever since he retired from Combustion Engineering, workaholic, know the type, he was one of their welding engineers and QA/International Company Reps at the time he retired

Uly Luigi or anyone- Ever have any question about welding AL, just give us a call. We have weld engineers and metallurgical engineers who have all been in AL for their entire lives. 231-933-1234.

COOL, may be giving you a call, do you happen to know what grade the part is he wants welded, or is it an alloy, do you think it would be better to MIG, or HI Freak TIG

Kuntree, I have the Tail section in hand, all nice and welded, your painter will have to do a little touching up, may need a little sanding, so fit it up before you have it powder coated

Hey Kuntree, let's set something up so you can get this this, wifey must be taking up all his "free time"

Hi freak AC Tig should do the job and you can weld it in spots to help control heat. I am not that good at it but I have seen some amazing stuff done by others.
