I'm looking to keep the colors (from blue to the tans due to heat) but clean the headers up. there only 2000 miles old and they look horendous. any options to clean them up without turning them to an all completely mirror-polished look?

i like the blued look, ive done it on other headers like my pit bike, you can polish them up to a mirror polish and of you want a colored header you can aways take a propane/ oxy acetylene tortch and put coror into them of you want... on my pit bike header a put rings in it most of the way back... it looked pretty neat... just a thought... otherwise cleaning them is pretty hard without polishing...

Use Scotch-brite pads with some WD-40 if you want. They'll be silver shiny, but clean. After a ride or so they'll get back to the original blued bronze color.

i was thinking though, i live by the beach, and most of the air around here being i love by the shore is full of salt because of the ocean. I was trying to stay away from polishing cause they would probbably pit or turn ugly if not taken care of meticously

I don't think they'll be as likely to corrode as you think. Someone on here actually thought that they're titanium? The most bullet-proof method would be to polish then have them ceramic-coated with your "color shade" of your choice.
