I think I've fallen in love with this motorcycle, does anyone on this forum have any first hand experience with it?

I read a post from a canadian rider whose buddy rides one. he said it's a bad bitch and pulls on his 12S all day.

I'm really beginning to wonder about the Italian bike makers. I know that these super-moto bikes really are a class of their own.... but they seem to keep trying to sell these bikes in the "Naked Street Fighter" Market and I really think they've missed the mark. That's a nice looking bike... don't get me wrong... but one of the fundamental things that makes a Naked bike is the almost complete elimination of "Cosmetic" additions. if it has a function, you make is aesthetically appealing yet minimal eye grab. If it has no function, it simply ain't put on the bike.

These Super-Motos from Aprilia, KTM, Ducati, MV Ag, and others are NOT Naked bikes... I'd honestly like to see Aprilia or Duc produce a truly naked bike!

I disagree eagle, typically a naked or 'standard' bike is a fairingless bike. A Cafe Racer is what you described. Cafe Racer styled bikes were those that had everything without function stripped off of them, sometimes to the extent that functional parts were replaced with more minimalistic similarly functional pieces. The history of Cafe Racers is actually quite something but separate from that of naked bikes. Aprilia has one of the most beautiful naked bikes I've seen in a long time. The only one that beats it out for certain is manufactured by Benelli and is too expensive for my taste. The Brutale comes in just behind the Aprilia in the looks department as far as I'm concerned.

The reason I posted this up here would be the recent developments with the Buell Motorcycle Company. I won't be able to seriously start looking for a new bike for a minimum of 1 year, by then another Buell may not be an option for me any longer. Aprilia is my next choice. Were I to base it on looks alone, the Tuono beats the hell out of the 1125CR. As far as performance goes, they are similar enough for it not to matter. After-market parts for the Tuono will be easier to come by as they are more abundant, but also more costly. The engine is manufactured by the same company that makes the 1125R/CR engine.

Honestly, and nothing against Aprilia because I really like them, but I think the Tuono is hideous looking. I think the Shiver 750 is a better looking naked bike, IMHO.

I think is a uglier version of the super duke... which is flat out awesome. Watching a super duke compete with the 1125R in AMA was awesome!

The Tuono had its ass handed to it by the CR and the Duc streetfighter in the superbike mag naked shootout.

The superduke is a big bike, I sat on one a few months ago and its a big bike. Im going for the speed triple as my next bike.

Just wondering? How many people have actually seen an Aprilia up close? ( NOT pic's) My brother was crazy about one last year, 1000-R or something, drove 2 hours just to see one. Pretty dissapointing, fit and finish were poor, paint and decals were terrible, just sitting on it hurt like hell. Nowhere near as pretty in person as the pic's. FIDO, if you haven't,go see on for real and tell us what you think. Wayne

Gator- I almost bought a Triple instead of my XB9SX but the deal was too good to pass up! Love my XB!
Racepro- Speaking as a painter who's had to refinish a couple of them, Aprilia's do have a poor fit/finish and the seats are HORRIBLE.

I do like the look of that Super Duke Dave
[up]
Used to have a thing for Speed Triples but the Duke is striking a chord...tuck a nice little can under the seat ;)

I think I will go sit on BamBam and give him a hug...lol
:D

I was craving a benelli TNTcafe racer1130, before I sprung for the scg .I can understand your desire for a well built ,high performance machine.
Mostly,the Italians do a good job,so I imagine it's gotta be fun.
I happened to run into a guy at a Buell dealership who had owned the tornado wich is the fully faired version-it was everything I didn't want, tall& heavy.plus expensive to maintain. He had gotten rid of it &was looking to go back to a Buell! This was after he knew the plug had been pulled on Buell!
FIDOSOL-sorry ,I'm not answering your question,I don't have any first hand xp with that aprilla, have you test rode it?cosmeticaly ,it doesn't work for me.

I love my street fighter and will never sell it. But the next bike is definitely a Jap bike. If money allows I want a 848 for a daily ride then a liter bike to go scare the piss out of myself.

Not to pee on Aprilas parade (cuz I like them too) but after seeing this I see no competition... other than KTM's RC8.

Oh, thats powered by the 150hp version of the 1098 motor... Nasty!

Gator-
I rode a speed triple last summer and my brother said "I bet you can only think one word whe you get back" (after his ride).... After a ride all I could do is look at the thing and say.... "wierd"... my bro laughs and says "exactly"... always loved the looks, but riding one was "WIERD"....

i heard nothing but bad stuff bout the benellis build quality
its cool lookin tho
a dealer here in austin was going out of business and had one for like 7k

i almost bought a triple R, but then the buells were so cheap, and a buell was the first bike that made me go HOLY HELL I WANT A MOTORCYCLE THAT THINGS COOL!
that was an orange 07 scg i think
Mmmm orange buells... droooooooool

i like the orange frame on the duke, and the blue frame on the special edition daytona tho

i, myself, am in love with this bike

Cosmetically I find the Tuono appealing. In a heads up it us rated better than the duc monster 9/10 times. I will be test riding one before I get one. In fact, the only bike I got before ever even seeing in person was my Buell. The only other 2 bikes I would consider that with would be the Tuono and (funds permitting) the Benelli.
