Production of 100 per year. 36k'ish. Looks pretty close to how I'd have liked to see the sx look.

What's it hold, like a gallon of fuel?

That's exactly the first thing I thought. If that's a Honda derived twin such as the superhawk or RC51, that bike is gonna be thirsty too.

It's customizable with 3 different tanks. From 1.8 gal. to 6 gal.

it's a modular chassis. Everything from the tank to the brakes and rake are interchangeable to rider preference.

I just like the look and concept.

I REALLY like that. Throw me some bar end mirrors and lower clip ons and I'm sold. Not quite sure how I feel about that rake though. I'd like to see how it handles.

Edit. Just read the article. I like using the clutch. I wonder if thats an option or If you're stuck with the paddle shifter? That would be a deal breaker for me. Not that I have that kind f money to drop on a bike. Theoretically speaking of course :p

In a marketplace becoming over-run with V-twins, it's too bad Arial didn't bring back its famous Square Four instead!

It is a v4
Haha, you're right. I failed to look up the specs & I just went off the comment above regarding the Superhawk & RC-51. Regardless, it's still not a Square Four!

Cytocis- Funny, I was actually responding to the person above you regarding the paddle shifters and thought I would clear things up a bit after seeing someone mention the rc.

I'm not familiar with the old Ariel's. If they had to source an engine, they could have done far worse than a Honda. Some of Honda's engines have been really awesome over the years. I would still love a gear driven VFR 800, if for nothing else than the noise...

It's a Honda vfr 1200 motor with optional manual or dct semi auto. It is a v4.

I see. That's still an awful small tank to power a big thirsty motor like that.

Cool design though. I really like the look.

The vfr1200 is a pretty stout machine... If my memory serves me correct, I'm thinking somewhere around 9's in the 1/4 mile stock. Not to mention the vfr1200 is big and bulky. Comparable to a zx14 and hayabusa. I can only imagine what it would be like in a lightweight bike like the Ariel.

Regarding the transmission,
The powerplant is mated to Honda’s Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT). The DCT transmission means that there is no clutch lever and the rider has to use the push-button “paddle” shifters for shifting up and down or switch to complete automatic mode

Thanks for clearing that up

It's one of those motors you must experience before you die! I had a 3rd gen VFR 750. At the risk of sounding corny, the engine was a symphony of baritone V-4 growl & soprano cam-gear whine; one of the best motorcycle engines ever!

A riding buddy of mine still has a 5th gen with V-tec & I gladly let him lead every time we ride just so I can hear that glorious sound!

You mean *this* symphony? This is seriously one of the best sounding bikes on the planet. ;)

Heagachongoose- you've for the details right about the dct. The vfr 1200 was available with that trans AND a conventional 6 speed manual. I saw another article about the Ariel that stated it would be available with either trans from the vfr. Which is good, because I'm with you in preferring a clutch on a motorcycle.

Its interesting for sure, Ive got to ride in a Ariel Atom before its pretty darn cool and pretty rare. Met the guy at our local drag strip
