Any have any experience with the air box mod sold by ASB the appealing side to it is no cutting needed so If i want to go back to stock no biggie. I have also been mulling over doing the breather relocation but have seen a bunch of different ways to go about it with regards to position of air filter

I have the asb mod. Bought it second hand and really like it. You can hear the motor pulling in air especially at idea. The only bad thing is it is significantly louder without the upper airbox...so if noise is an issue then it may not be the mod for you. IIRC the ASB on has the nipple on the inside to help with air flow.

Noise is not a biggie to me and thanks for the input I think I may give it a go. Have you done the breather mod too?

Yes I have. Some people say it doesn't matter...some say it does. I just like the idea that i'm not putting gunk back in my airbox just to have to clean later. Its really easy especially since u have to have the lower airbox off to do the mod...perfect time for a airbox mod. I just ran mine under the frame back to the rear wheel using transmission line with a filter and radiator cap. I'm probably going to redo it and use a smaller gas line without the plug on the bottom. Every time i drain it looks like snot coming out of the line...thats the stuff that you would normally be burning back into your motor. I drain mine every time i fill up just for reference

Ok I have done both here's some pics. I have painted the filter cover silver since the pic

How does it still run okay if you get caught out in a rain storm? I don't want to take the chance of hydro locking my motor. That's the only reason I haven't done this yet.

I've had mine for a few years now without a problem. Ridden in some really bad downpours (not on purpose) without any known problems. I've never seen any water inside the airbox after a ride so that should be a good sign that its not getting to the filter.

You would have to be submerged to get water in the airbox. As far as the breather reroute its not gonna hurt anything if it gets. Gotta remember its just a breather it's not sucking air.

xtreme, where did you get that lower air box piece!? That looks much better than the plastic tub that sits there when you delete the air box!

What I did was cut a piece of plexiglass to the shape I wanted and then cover it with 3m di-noc vinyl. I'm planning on building one from aluminum sometime soon. I just hated how the open factory airbox looked it cleaned it up nicely. Here is a pic with the cover on.

OK I stand corrected its not 5.0dro where did you get the carbon fiber lower air box pieces? I too was also worried about the air box delete in the rain

I have a Adrelin Moto ultimate airbox kit fitted to my 04 xb12r which I believe is a similar mod to your airbox delete.
