My gas light came on, and I put in 2.9 gallons. Problem is I only got 62 miles on the tank...I am using 93.

I should note that I am doing 100% city driving and revving pretty high/riding hard. But I still don't think I should be getting 20 mpg...

I will keep track on this tank, but any ideas?

im getting arourd 160 before the light,on a xb12. a 1125 would be worse but shouldnt be that bad. try not reving it up a little obvious i know but if your reving the motor on decel at intersections and running a gear to low your gonna burn it. other than that if you have a leak or your ecm is remmaped wrong maybee?

in town im getting around 75 miles from a tank.cruising at around 5000 rpm and shifting at around 6500 rpm

Wow! I thought my mileage was bad at ~100 miles per tank. I do have a cg though, so the tank is a bit smaller, so about 40-45mpg is what I usually get. I didn't get the bike for the mileage (even though I convinced my wife that the gas savings over time would pay for the bike..haha).

Brad ski getting 160 miles on a tank is amazing though. I don't mind 40mpg, but filling up th tank so often is annoying, especially on a group ride where most can get at least 150 on a tank.

Measure the time you're "riding".

Most of city riding is actually parked time, no mileage recorded.

Buells are really not city bikes.

I get around 120 miles per tank on my 03 XB9R before the fuel light comes on. Average ~ 48-50 mpg in town. Can go around 160 on a tank if it's all highway at 55-58 mpg.

My 09 XB12Ss gets around 130 on a tank when the fuel light comes on in town. Getting ~ 38-42 mpg in town. Around 45-48 on the highway. IT does have the larger tank being the Ss.

I think Iamarchangel is on to something I never thought of. I spend a ton of time sitting at lights, sitting in traffic, and just creeping along.

I bet I am burning a ton of fuel idling...

when I was only getting 20 I had accidentally switched the front and rear hookups for the injectors

otherwise I've heard having bad plug wires would do it

I went 172 miles once but when I filled up I put in 3.6 gallons in my 3.8 gallon tank on my stock 09 XB12R. Thats cutting it a little too close for me! I was riding all highway at about 80 MPH up the 5 between LA and Lemoore.

Even with my fat load I got 40 or better depending on how I rode. Highest was about 55MPG just cruising back roads around 40 to 60 MPH. Worst is city, about 35. Rocket shots at every light.
Highway doing 80-85 got about 40.

You cruise at 5000? I feel sorry for your bike. I keep mine between 2600-3400 and I'm getting around 150 gallons a tank and I beat my bike.

I don't need to be obnoxious with my force pipe and make myself look like I don't know how to ride and having people assume I don't know how to shift.

firebolt and lightnings except the ss 3.82 gal

ss and uly 4.40 gal

for bikes without the hole in the frame
