What a crock..... Rated 79 out of 200 on motorcycles, and the Lightning was rated #1 of all time for Ugly motorcycles Link. Who in the hell does these things......?..

There comes a time when any automotive reviewer has to stop reaching for the thesaurus and simply state the clear and simple fact that the entire lineup that he or she is reviewing is a malodorous steaming pile of maggot ridden steer manure. That is most definitely the case for the Buell XB Series.

Sure, I could have gone model by model exercising my vocabulary and trying to figure out innovative and different ways of saying that the Buell XB Series is ugly, so I'll just dump the whole thesaurus out right now and provide all of the synonyms at once:

The Buell XB Series is abhorrent, abominable, appalling, atrocious, awful, barbarous, bloodcurdling, contemptible, deplorable, despicable, detestable, disgusting, distasteful, dreadful, execrable, foul, ghastly, grotesque, heinous, hideous, horrendous, horrid, loathsome, monstrous, nauseating, obnoxious, odious, offensive, repugnant, repulsive, revolting, sickening, and vile.

Is that clear enough?

Although there are some BMWs that make me retch, some Bimotas that make me feel like I've just eaten a slug sandwich, some Triumphs that make me want to fly to Britain to slap the stylists across the face, and some Yamahas that for the good of humanity deserve to be exterminated more than a pandemic virus strain, there has never been an entire lineup of motorcycles like the Buell XB Series which have absolutely not a single solitary aesthetic value in any way, shape or form.

Fortunately there are a couple of saving graces in the marque. The Buell Blast is a Blast, and I am warming to the Batbike look of the Buell 1125 R. The rest, unfortunately, is whale dreck.

Must've been spanked in the twists by a Buell and is still hurting. Will admit though, the lollipop mirrors weren't well thought out.

Lol but he likes the blast? Thats like picking a Cobalt over a Corvette. Clearly he likes what is "in style" and common rather than original.

I won't lie, when I first made a list of all the bikes I liked and was looking at buying, my buell xb-s was like number 5 or 6 because I didn't like some of the styling. Then I ran across a picture of one that was 'modded', mostly just removing a ton of the stuff of the bike to give it a more naked look, and fell in love. It didnt take alot of to make it look awesome IMHO. Remove stickers, belt guard, hand guards, mirrors, chop the tail piece, plus more, and the bike looks completely awesome and different than a stock one.

What makes Buell's so awesome is the ability to mod is so easily, and make it completely unique compared to other bikes on the road. I kind of understand why some think its ugly, but # 1 ugly bike is complete overkill. ( Busa's have solidified that # 1 spot in my mind)

I'm perfectly fine with a criticism and varying opinions of Buells, but when it comes to motorcycles I don't care to take my advice from a 15 year old. If you consider yourself a reliable enough source to actually evaluate motorcycles for other people, why would you still be walking around talking about eating slug sandwiches?? The entire thing is based 100% on appearance. I'll stick with the article from Bike magazine that lists the XB9R as the best handling bike on the road. Had a little more thought put into it.

we each have our own opinions...I personally think the lightenings are ugliest... hence I have an 1125R

Ha, at a red light today I had someone behind me get out of their car so they could come up and see what kind of bike I was riding (xb12ss)...gave me a huge smile and a double thumbs up before they got back in their car to write it down.

Sounds like a hideous bike to me...
