Axle sliders

Had my Tool Guy at work make these up on the lathe. Each is designed to fit in each specific axle to self center. And the outer diameters of each match the diameter of the axles outer width.

Here are the sliders that I came up with. $16 axle extenders for a bike stand and $7 for 1/2 inch all thread cut to length.

My darkhorsemotors sliders just paid for them selves this afternoon. The wife didn't notice my bike in the driveway and backed into it. luckily the only damage was a scuffed slider a broken footpeg and some ruber chunked out of the end of the throttle grip.

Ah hell man, my wife would cry if she ever did that to mine. Glad to hear it was minimal damage!

Went with the skateboard wheel idea for now. $16 at walmart. Took the wheels to a grinder, cut them down and they now sit flush on the swing arm. Have some more grinding for the front set. If you take the time to trim them down they dont look as goofy.Good sliders are too expensive. I would rather spend the money on gas.

pockets...those look really good...im gonna fabricate myself a pair just like it over christmas...lol

pockets is that the bearing still in the wheel?? I used pennies as washers and painted them black.

Kalifornia- Yep, those are the bearings from 1980! LOL. I still have to do the fronts. Who knew there'd be a use for one mangled roller skate.

just ordered some delrin rod with a 1" diameter off of ebay for $9 including shipping...should be enough for all 6 sliders and at a good price too!...did you just drill a 1/2 inch diameter hole on the inside of the slider for the rod to fit through? and a larger one on the outside to accomodate a place for the locking nut and washer to sit?

Just thought I would share a thought. I have used both Black Delrin and Black UHMW or Duralene for these parts. The best wearing is the UHMW. It was tough to find at first, but I found 2 guys that stock it in a bunch of diameters.
