Back fire out of airbox and now it wont idle help please

I just bought a 03 firebolt xb9r and I was running it to drive into the garage and then it backfired through air cleaner and now it wont start unless I give it gas and it wont idle. To keep it running I have to keep on the gas and it doesnt run very well. It was running fine before this with out problems for the few times I started it. It only has 8000 miles on it so the engine isnt that old.
Any ideas?

Did you pull off the air box cover to take a look at the filter and velocity stack? I saw a picture of one that melted up pretty well from a back fire. That would definitely cause some idling issues.

Its all fine. nothings melted.

Are you able to or do you know anyone with an ECM spy cable, and program. if you have a CEL now, the program will be able to tell you the fault. if not, I you may just need a TPS reset. I have an 04 XB12R, and I had a similar issue, the TPS reset did th trick.

What pmedictw said. I had this same issue and I did a TPS reset and it fixed everything.

Spark plugs! Start there, then carry on with TPS reset etc...
